I am attempting to build a clone of the rack. I would like to make it look like the real thing as much as possible. I plan to do a 21" base quintuple setup with 39" single extensions on both ends in cherry. Leaving a triple in the middle for my 50 plasma. I have almost everything planned out for the hardware but have a few questions for the lumber.
(1) What type of wood would someone suggest for the top and bottom for the base? I was thinking of using 1 sheet of 3/4" MDF stacked on a 1/2" MDF to get the required thickness of 1-1/8".
(1a) The sides 1/4" MDF?
(1b) The shelves 3/4" MDF?
(2) What type of router bit(s) would be suggested to make the edges for the base and shelves? Does anyone have any Hi-Res photo shots of the base's trim.
(3) Does anyone know the width of the door trim? I plan to do perforated inserts.
(3a) Thickness of doors? I assume they are 3/4".
Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated..
TIA.
