Baseboard heater question

I have a standard Baseboard heater in my bedroom, which I rarely turn on(intentionally anyway).

This past winter, it started coming on by itself, even though the knob was all the way down. The lowest setting on the knob is somewhere around 30 degrees, so if it gets colder than that, it comes on.

But the times it came on, it was never that cold in the room.

The other issue was the knob was all the way down, so there was no way to turn it off when it turned on like this.

I just ignored it, it wasn't really a big deal. And I figured once it started to warm up, it would stop doing that. No other baseboard heaters in the house are doing that.

Today it was 65 degrees outside and quite warm inside. I got home and found the heater in my bedroom on. The knob was already all the way down, in the lowest setting, and wouldn't turn anymore, so there was no way for me to turn it off. So now my room is hot, even though it's warm outside.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening? Have any suggestions on what to do? Is there a way to shut off the heater completely, aside from shutting off the power to the room? Or should I just call a repairman?

I know nothing about how it works, so I'm pretty clueless about what might be wrong.

Call a repairman. I have never worked on a baseboard heater but if you had regular heating and air I could help you out

Faulty Thermostat? I have a gas boiler and a baseboard heat system with 2 zones but it runs off a regular thermostat and nothing on the individual baseboard. If it's not a broken knob, then I can only think of a faulty thermostat..

The pump, the zone controls for my baseboard heat are all downstairs by the furnace itself. Because I have two zones, I have a thermostat downstairs and one upstairs...
