Synopsis:
David Billa (Ajith Kumar) needs no introduction. Famed for his worldwide smuggling operations, he has become Interpol’s most wanted. Assigned to arrest him is Indian Police officer Jay Prakash (Prabhu Ganesan) who learns of Billa’s movement in Malaysia. With help from the Malaysian police force Jay plans a way to capture the elusive gangster, and his notorious gang. But the method he chooses will be rather bizarre and unconventional... Billa is a remake of the popular original Bollywood classic Don (1978). It has been remade many times with renowned actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikant and Shah Rukh Khan. This version remains faithful to the original Salim-Javed screenplay, yet uses contemporary filmmaking techniques to meet with current audiences expectations. Billa had the honour of being officially screened at the International Cannes Film Festival 2008. Director Vishnu Vardhan, who has trained under acclaimed Indian film-makers like Mani Ratnam and Santosh Sivan, approaches Billa with stylized cinematography, fast editing and raw silver-tone colours. His efforts went rewarded and broke box office records worldwide. The film has award-winning production values from India’s best technicians, and features an acclaimed score by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
