This film was fairly awful and puerile. Rogen's character was woefully written and far too one-note in presence and performance. Granted, there are some funny lines, but the film is far too much of a jumbled mess that peaked at the end of its first act, and it's basically downhill from there.

I give it 1.75 stars or a grade of D+.

I saw it and it's definitely not for everyone (though if you're a self-aggrandizing sociopath, you will probably love seeing one of your own as the hero of a movie) but if you're a fan of writer/director Jody Hill's recent HBO series Eastbound And Down, you'll probably like this movie. I wasn't blown away like a number of online reviews but I thought the movie had some good laughs and parts of it are just screwed up. The ads make the movie look like it's a 'regular' Seth Rogen movie but it's a very dark, odd and slightly depressing movie and much more interesting than Rogen cashing in on his popularity and doing the same movie over and over.

It's pretty brilliantly subversive. Jody Hill is a true master of uncomfortable/offensive humor. If you don't like those buttons pushed or boundaries broken, do not expect to like this.

I laughed like a motherfucker. There are a few priceless scenes/sequences where I was telling myself, "they can't push this any further or their over the precipice" and they pushed it! The ending in particular is a huge shock laugh.
