Beatles Remastered Catalog posted for pre-order on Amazon.uk & HMV.uk! - Page 3

Brad's not entirely off, ADITL was the B-side to the "Sgt. Pepper/With a Little Help" single you mentioned. FWIW, the clean version of ADITL is also on The Blue Album.

I still would like to see "The Beatles' Movie Medley" tacked onto Past Masters. It'd be nice to throw in Hollywood Bowl and the Christmas stuff too, but at least those could possibly have a separate release someday. The medley isn't quite as prestigious but is still worth hearing and officially releasing on CD.

So true. Back when these came out, a local store in Houston heavily advertised a $10 per disc first-day-of-release sale price for all the Beatles' discs as they came out (I think the "White Album" went for $18). I dutifully made the trek across town each of the release-Tuesdays after work to snap these up.

Never saw 'em anywhere near that low ever again.

I just completed by Beatles CD collection a couple of years ago. *sigh*

Still, I'm excited about the releases, especially the mono stuff!

But......I'm wondering if I should start selling my current CD collection off on eBay now, or wait until the new CDs are available here in the states and I've had a chance to listen to them. I'm a tad concerned about the way these new CDs are going to sound. I hate it when they tamper with older recordings, in an attempt to make them sound 'new'.

I wasn't trying to start any trouble. Just wondering if the ADITL version that didn't have the crowd cheering over the intro (from Sgt. Pepper's Reprise) was on the Past Masters. I do not own those and thought it might be on there. I see that it is not. No big deal.

I hear ya about the "clean" version. I was happy to finally have it without the blending from Reprise. I too don't think it's a big deal that it's not on the remasters (really doesn't make sense to be on it) but I will probably try my hand at using Pro Tools later to use the majority of the existing remastered file of ADITL and splice + volume match the "clean" beginning from another source onto it to create a Frankenstein version of "clean & remastered ADITL".

Good luck. (I really mean that) Making the edit should be simple enough but getting the sound to match up might be tricky. I've played with putting the original Sweet Emotion ending on the remastered and the sound is just a bit off. The remastered version is just "thicker" and doesn't blend well with the original version.

If you're a Beatles fan, you should check out radio host Marc Germain's interview with Beatles publicist Martin Lewis. It's 45+ minutes (without commercials!) and covers a host of Beatles topics (including the upcoming remasters).

They talk about "fixing" the songs for the new releases, as well as the mono/stereo issue and the history of the catalog in the UK and US. Lots of good info.

It's the 4/10/09 podcast available here:

Talk Radio One

Enjoy!

Thanks that was interesting.

Are the individual stereo releases the same as what will be in the stereo boxed set?
