I am in the framing phase of my basement HT. My wife, as you can imagine, is not thrilled with acoustic treatments even thought I told her she can pick out the fabric. The room will have a 10" riser in the back third of the room. My questions are:
1-I have read about using the riser as a bass trap, but nothing that tells me what this means. Can I use normal insulation, or do I need to use the high density stuff? Do I need holes in the platform?
2-Since I am still in the framing phase, can I put 4" of rigid fiberglass in the walls at each of the corners? I was thinking of filling in the first two feet on each wall plus about 2 sq. ft. in the ceiling and covering the HT side with drywall. Will this work? Do I need to put plywood on the back of the fiberglass, i.e., the side outside of the HT? Or, will this approach not work at all?
