what is a cheap but good 20x42 shade that is powered by batteries and uses an ir remote? why is my window size so weird i measured the window and the small wood trim that holds the window in.

Okay, i don't think any are powered by batteries. But a quick google search can get you tons of powered shades of any size that are powered by line voltage. As for control options, Lutron has plenty of control options and are supposedly top of the line, including IR remotes.Lutron Shades Online

The only company that i know of that offers battery operated motors that are reliable is Somfy (www.somfysystems.com). For more information on motorized shades visit their website or www.automatedshading.com.
