Best choice of video connector

Hi! I'd have a question regarding the best connector to use with my installation. I have an amplifier denon 1804, a DVD/VHS Player Samsung DVD V-6700S and a LOEWE tv.
My question is: the DVD Player (out) and the denon amplifier (in and out) are equiped with RAC composite Video, S-Video as well as the 3-colour-system Y / Cb / Cr.

Which system should i prefer? Which one is bound to give the best result? Or should I even connect them parallel to each other? Or 2 of them together at least?

Component (the red, green, blue one) is the best of the three, then s-video, then composite (the yellow one). I think you need to hook up the dvd/vhs player with one connection for the dvd side and another connection for the vhs side. I don't think you can use one connection for both.

Of the connections you listed, the component connections (Y/Cb/Cr) will be the best for video. They are the only connection of the three, that can give you HD. If using that connection from the dvd player, set the player to "Progressive Scan". If there's no switch on the front or back, it will be somewhere in the player's setup menus. While in the player's setup menus, set the audio output to "Bitstream", not PCM, to get surround sound from your movies.

None of your devices has HDMI connectors?

Anyway, the best of the listed video connections is the three color (or "colour" ) component connection. It is also the only one of the three that can handle an HD signal. The others are limited to standard def (NTSC or PAL, depending on where you are) resolutions. The s-video connection will give a better picture than the composite cable, but it is still inferior to component.

HDMI digital video is as good or even better than analog component, depending on the exact equipment involved.

Hi guys, thanks a lot for your fast replies! One more detail I had not mentioned in my explanations in the first place: my LOEWE tv has no video component in. So I'd have to use an adapter cable scart - component video. Does that change in any extend your replies as to what is the best connection? By the was, for composite video and S-Video, I'd have to use a cable Scart - to whatever as well...

Hi guys, thanks a lot for your fast and efficient replies! One more question though, since I did not mention it in my explanations in the first place: whatever video connector I choose, I'd have to connect it to the tv with a fitting cable with scart ending, even though I'd choose a right one, not a $ 2 the piece. Does that change in any regard your answer as to the best connector? Thanks for your help and support and have a nice sunday!

I know absolutely nothing about scart. We don't have that here in the US, so I can't offer anything else to help. First tv I've heard of with no component connections on it.
