Thread Starter
I am looking to up grade my sub woofer...I need to actually. My room is apx 12x12 with 8' ceilings. What would anyone prefer and would love some insight or suggestions.

I will mostly be watching movies....but PS3 and music here and there. My budget is around $250.....is that to low or could I find something good in that range?

Re: subwoofer help

It all depends on your expectations. Do you want bone crushing bass that will pressurize the room and make it difficult to breathe? $250 won't even get you started.

$250 from an internet direct company like Elemental Designs will get you are very good sub that will beat anything you can get from Best Buy in that range. Parts Express has some very good closeout deals as well as their own subs in that price range. I've seen a few used subs in the For Sale section for around that. Your best bet in this price range is DIY if you have the time, tools and some basic skills.

Re: subwoofer help

Check out Energy. They make very good subs for the money. No, they aren't SVS or JL Audio, but for $250, I think you will be pleased.

Audioadvisor has a factory refreshed 10 inch Energy sub right now for $249: Energy - 10.3- Powered Subwoofer - Factory Refreshed-Audio Advisor
