What type of receiver do I need with this?

I was given a 6 piece speaker set for Christmas, but I haven't done anything with it because I don't have a receiver for it. I am totally clueless. I don't know what I'm looking for.

I can tell you it's a Da V DigiTal Home Theater with a system power of 800 watts.

Someone told me that the type of receiver I need is a little older, I would probably have to get it from craigslist or something... is this true?

It looks like somebody dumped their White van speakers on you. Basically they are cheap junk, you'd be better off getting somebody's old quality speakers at a garage sale. I'd just dump'em & start from scratch, set a budget for both receiver & speakers (or on the low end, one of the better "home theater in a box" systems), how much are you willing to spend for good sound?
