Chick needs home stereo advice.

Thread Starter
Our house is wired for sound. There are embedded speaker on both levels and outside, I think.

I have hooked up my stereo to the two available speakers. There is a gaggle of wires coming out of a single wall in the main living area. There are four wire bundles with black and red wires, two of which I connected to the back of my stereo and it plays in two wall speakers.

Q. What would be the name of the contraption/box I need to connect the other wires into the house speakers and connect that to the stereo?

Re: Chick needs home stereo advice.

It depends on the system installed. You can use a stereo amp to drive all speakers if you use an impedance matching device. You can use a multi-channel amp. You can use a combination. Do you have volume controls for each speaker or pair of speakers? Are they rheostat models or do they send a control signal back to the amp?

Give us a some more information so we can better help you.
