Phantom volume increase on HK AVR 525

Any ideas on this one?

Occasionally, my 525 will randomly go from the -30 to -20 range that I normally listen at, to anywhere from -16 to 0. Without touching the remote.

There are no other problems other than this.

Thanks -- Mike

Re: Phantom volume increase on HK AVR 525

Back when Circuit City was still around, I played around with H/K receivers a lot. In that time I encountered a couple H/K demo receivers - the ones with the internally lit blue knob - where the volume control acted very erratically, specifically: when trying to turn down the volume it actually went UP, scaring the crap out of me in the process! I found that if I turned the knob very slowly the volume would finally go down. Unhappily I wasn't all that surprised that this happened since the volume knobs themselves felt very flimsy, a disconcerting issue on a rather expensive piece of gear.
