projector...computer...and reciever

Thread Starter
I Own a Epson Powerlite 822p projector, a HP media center desktop with hdmi, and a Yahama reciever with hdmi and the whole nine yards. the only problem is that the projector does not have any high definition inputs only VGA and A/V with s-video, But its a HD projector up to 1080i.
What should i do????

i hooked my projectors vga input to a vga to component cable and that used as the monitor output on my yahamah reciever ...if i hooked up the computer with hdmi to the reciever will it transcode to component and display the image on the projector.....

i just want the best way in quality and sound for the equipment that i got

Thanks Guys

Re: projector...computer...and reciever

The receiver may or may not transcode from VGA (RGB) to HDMI (Y/Cb/Cr) or VGA to component (Y/Pb/Pr) depending on its features. In addition it would have to convert to another resolution (for example 768p (1024x768) to 720p (HDTV) unless the PC video card offered 1280x720 or another resolution that matched what the projector accepts.

A problem of a separate topic is copy protection (HDCP) Blame big bad Hollywood and big bad Congress for this. Most modern equipment will not take HDMI high-def sources in and output VGA other than non-super VGA (standard def; 640x480) if the source is encrypted in a certain way.
