The Cancer spreads!

That malaginacy known as "Reality" Shows has metastasized! It was announced by Variety that, begining this Fall, the Cartoon Network will beging airing their own shows of this genre.

This doesn't matter to me, since I stopped watching Cable TV two years ago, but I'd like to see what all of YOU think about this.

I enjoy some reality shows. But, its getting ridiculous. But, they are cheap to make and they are popular.

From what I understand, they will be Live-Action, which is completely out of league with what's supposed to this Channel's Format.

(What else is new? Before I cancelled my Cable TV Subscription I had seen Wrestling Shows on The Sci-Fi Channel (Soon to be called "SyFy") and Science Fiction Movies on The History Channel, among others. And don't get me started on MTViacomLand!)

Well, I saw somewhere that a show called The Mighty Boosh is being brought over to Adult Swim. It's live-action. The "cartoon" in Cartoon Network is no longer completely descriptive.

All the more reason to not waste money on TV services. Our local "basic" cable is up to $60/month, but I now get over 30 channels free (thank you DTV) including some great stuff like the Documentary Channel. Yeah, I can't believe I get the Documentary Channel for free over the air. I even picked up an HD digital tuner off craigslist for $25. With NetFlix going for $17/month, who needs cable or satellite?

Makes me think of that cartoon Total Drama Island. It's a spoof on Survivor. It's funny actually.

Didn't Adult Swim show reruns of Pee-Wee's Playhouse and Saved by the Bell at one point? Neither are animated.

Let's face it, the "cancer" metastasized years ago. Treatment options are hopeless. The patient will die.

But there's also been great stuff on TV in the last decade. Admittedly most of it has been on cable but it's not all reality garbage.

I agree - even if the ratio is 10 to 1 for turds vs. gems there are still some great shows to be found.

I've watched more TV in the last five years or so than I ever have, and none of it is premium cable. Those shows are a little too "edgy" for me, I guess. But, I wouldn't want to have missed Lost, Veronica Mars, Chuck, Friday Night Lights, to name a few. I figure if the reality shows can help pay for the shows I like by being cheap and profitable, more power to them. I don't have to watch them, and I don't. Bottom line: in spite of the complaints, it's pretty much a golden age for scripted dramas as far as I can tell.

I do think G4 getting away from video games and the Cartoon Network showing live-action is ridiculous, though.
