Hi,

im kinda new here and i've seen a lot of threads that has hot topics about home cinemas and and entertainment system. im kinda envious and would like to have one of those one day.

for my case im starting off with some much smaller / simpler or should i say much cheaper.Video Glasses (Twift.com) / 3D Glasses (i-glassesstore) are the ones which i feel like getting at the moment. also, some say they very much different and some say they're just the same. im kinda confused, i found those 2 links from somewhere around these forums too and just wondering if they are really good sources of video glasses. or if some of you know better sites, please let me know.

thanks in advance.

Re: Starting off with something small..

IMO you are wasting money on these products. For almost $200 you are getting a 640x480 display and some cheap earbuds. I would suggest that you look at used TVs and a decent set of headphones (Grado SR60s, etc.). I've seen 50"+ rear projection TVs selling (used) for $150 because they are not HD and don't have a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, they are still pretty good for watching DVDs!

Would that be on sites like Craigslist?

really? so you think they're not that good? that's sad.. but i've heard a lot of good thngs about it. from my friends and other forums aswell. but if you're serious about that rear projection thing.. hmm i might reconsider..haha.. doesn't it take a lot of space or something? and also, hmm maybe i was over thinking that it'll going to cost a lot..

By all means, demo the glasses and see if you like them (try them for at least 15+ minutes to see if there is eye strain). If your goal is to eventually have a full home theater then I would just start buying components as budget allows. There are numerous TVs selling on Craigslist every day & good deals can be had. Be sure to post a "wanted" ad as well... some people have stuff gathering dust that they have forgotten about. The best way to save money is to sit closer to the screen (voila, your screen now appears larger).

Rear projection (in your budget range) will take about 18" of depth. Most CRT TVs require more depth than a rear projection unit.

Re: Starting off with something small..

The 3D glasses from the I-Glassesstore are a lot cheaper than the ones on Twift. the only noticable difference between the two sets is that the pair for i-glassesstore requires a special system in order to be used correctly. The video glasses that you suggested from Twift however do not display 3D images. The only glasses i found on the website are video glasses that give the appearance that you are looking at a 50 inch screen or bigger. If you are looking for a 3D home theater, then i do not recommend the Twift glasses, unless i found the wrong pair that you are mentioning.
