Cheap decent ht setup

I am looking for a cheap receiver that will sound good. A friend recommended the denon avr-1706, which I could pick up at under 200$, But then I noticed they have a new model, the 1707, which looks almost the same, but I can get it cheaper. So Is the 1706 better? Or should I go with the 1707? I was planning on pairing the receiver with the JBL SCS-145.5 speakers. Also, I found the yamaha RX-V365, would this be better then the denon ones? I would be using the receiver to watch movies and listen to music in my bedroom, its about 12x14. If anyone has any recommendations on receivers or different speakers it would be appreciated. I am trying to keep the whole setup under 500$usd. Thanks

Also, I will be using it to listen to music just as much as for movies, so what would be the best sounding way to go in stereo mode? Thanks

I went with the dennon avr-1707. Hopefully it sounds decent. It's gotta sound better then my old pc speakers. Now I just gotta find speakers for it.

Re: Cheap decent ht setup

I would have recommended Onkyo for good, high-current power on the cheap. But as I am now having problems with my low-end unit after 7 years, don't expect your purchase (at this price point) to last a lifetime.

Re: Cheap decent ht setup

i just bought from (buy. com) the RX-V365 or (HTR-6240) for 240.00 shipped
