Hello all,
I recently purchased a 2.1 system consisting of 2 desk speakers at 50 watts each, 8 ohms, as well as a JL Audio car subwoofer, at 150 watts, 4 ohms.
I want to purchase a receiver for this but I have been told that running the 4 ohms subwoofer on a typical receiver (which is designed to handle 8 ohms) could cause overheating and eventual receiver death.
So, I suppose what I am looking for here (if you guys don't have any better ideas), is a relatively cheap receiver (under $200?) that has a minimum of 2 regular channels, as well as a dedicated subwoofer channel which can handle 4 ohms. I have been looking all around for this but can't find anything. Am I missing something?
And if such receivers cannot be found for under $200, are there alternatives? Some people have said to just purchase 2 separate amplifiers.
