A few words about...™ Quantum of Solace -- in Blu-ray

Quantum of Solace.

Great title.

Mr. Craig has taken up the 007 mantle made it his own, and in his second outing as the enduring secret agent, he acquits himself very, very well.

No need to discuss the film, as reviews are readily available. As far as the quality of this Fox Blu-ray release, to my eye it matches the 2k presentation that I saw at the Goldwyn in all respects.

No quibbles about quality from these quarters. QoS is a gorgeous Blu-ray.

Highly Recommended.

Thanks Robert. What is your opinion of the audio on this BR?

Great news Robert. Loved this one, and I have the BD waiting for me at home. I think I'll do a Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace Blu-ray double bill later this week.

I think I'll do that tomorrow.

It would be interesting to hear your views on the other Bond movies released this week. Specifically both Moonraker and The World Is Not Enough seem to have had a horizontal squeeze applied to the title sequences, which seems unneccesary for HDTV displays rather than CRT televisions

Mine shipped from Amazon this morning so it should show up on Wednesday. Can't wait for a double bill this weekend!

Welcome to HTF Scott.

I did my double feature yesterday.
QoS was a good movie, i got lost as to who was who with the bad guys but still liked it.

So Fox IS handling this release? Does the Columbia logo show up at the beginning of the film like I saw in the theater? So now you have Fox, Sony and MGM releasing bond movies, that's crazy.

Just Fox and Sony; Fox handles distribution for all of MGM's titles now.

No adding QOS to my must have list. Might as well get it as I have allready planned on owning every single 007 title on Bluray.

I agree. One of the best transfers I have ever seen. Audio was excellent too.

Machine PS-3...current update
My first disc of Quantum acted a "bit funny" at the beginning of the movie, and at about 1 hr 16 min into the program froze and would go not further. Returned this disc to Amazon. Purchased another from a local store. Froze at a different spot near the end. Was able to work backward into the movie so that i was able to see the whole thing. Just wondered if anyone else is having any problems of any sort....and how can i solve my incapatibility problem. The disc does not always "misbehave" at the same spot exactly...but does not play correctly (skips, studders, and freezes). Have a larger libraray and all else plays fine.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

A fantastic follow up to Casino Royal with fantastic audio and video. I sure hope we get to see a 3rd Bond with DC, the guy makes a great Bond.

yes, but I hope the next one is more like a Bond movie with an actual
villain and a plot to take over the world or some
product takeover, also the bullet gun shot at the beginning of the movie
not the end.

QoS really developed Bond as a character and who he is to become and didn't rely on all that you stated to make the film so great. Another great was to finally see them going back to the intro videos with the nude women, something that Casino Royal lacked, which was a big disappointment.

Exactly.

From everything I hear, the reboot that started with Casino Royale was intended to move away from the increasingly ridiculous and repetitive "trying to take over the world" plots that made little sense after the end of the Cold War, and focus more on Bond himself.

Gotta love it. The DE is being prepped already!

MI6 News :: Director Marc Forster already working on second edition of `Quantum of Solace` DVD + Blu-Ray

Not that I'm remotely surprised or anything.

If this is the cost of a four-month turnaround from theater to disc--or issues like Live Free or Die Hard's Blu-ray release--I'm not sure it's worth it anymore.

Watched this last night and agree that the blu-ray video and audio were top notch. I also enjoyed the movie which is always a plus.
