Simon Howson's suggestion of a sticky thread would be a great idea, with separate threads for each title.

Didn't take long for a Mod to freak out over that.

A general thread might not be a bad idea, though.

I was shown to be wrong on Crisis but did fail to record it or know that it was on the one time it was on tcm this summer. My cable company does not seem to give enough room on analog cable for the tcm channel, so I freguently get pauses where it states loss of signal or studders are frequent during the movie. I am assuming they are giving more room on the cable for other channels as I've never had that problem on any other channel ever except on some digital tuned stattions. But since tcm is just a bunch of old movies, they must not care about that station as much as the others. It does make for many ruined recordings.

Three Sailors and a Girl (a GREAT musical) has never been on TCM either.

I am not thrilled with the WB shop at all.I put in an order in on Sat .My Wife put one in on Monday. The money was taken out of my account for both orders on Monday.I called to check on them today, never having used their site before.I was told that they take the money out of your account before they make your dvds. Then it can be anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks before they are sent.I thought that was a little much.I've noticed many people have already received their movies on this board so i am not at all sure what the deal is.I have talkedd to 2 different people and have got the same crap. Now they tell me to check back next wednesday.I am totally po.

That's very strange, since I got an e-mail with UPS tracking number so I was able to follow my package's progress en route to me. I placed my orders on Sunday, they went out Monday, and I got them on Thursday.

That's what really gets me.I put mine in on Saturday. The girl i talked with made no sense at all.She told me that they have no stock at all.Every movie is made as you order it after payment is complete. That's fine. But why the wait after. They've had my money since monday. They couldn't make the disc and send by now?

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

She also told me my order would take longer because i ordered 5 movies.

You placed an order over the phone? Well, maybe there is your problem. I just ordered from the website. I could even log back in to check on the status. Odds are the order wasn't properly placed or something as everyone I know had their titles ship on the next business day.

I ordered 6 titles by the website early Monday morning and received an e-mail confirmation of the order which said my order should arrive 3/30 but since then I have still not received a shipping e-mail so I doubt this is going to happen. I wonder why some are getting their orders so quick and others are taking a long time. It looks like at least the end of next week for my order and it was placed the same day as many who received theirs yesterday.

Let's be positive here and say they have been so swamped with orders that there is a little delay!!! Checking the WBshop site yesterday evening, I recall seeing that most titles ship within 7 days, others (like Room for One More) within 14 days.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

By the way.Their phone customer service told me that it's quicker ,by a day,if you order on the phone. But i ordered online.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I am usually positive.I do alot of online ordering. This is the most frustrated i've ever been.I understand they may be swamped. But thats no reason for shoddy service.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I placed my order of 10 films on Sunday night anticipating the press release for Monday, but though my AMEX was billed, I did not get an email with any tracking notice, nor have they arrived yet.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

Old transfers, bare bones, generic covers, DVD-R's, no middle-men.

It would seem to be the perfect opportunity to pass these savings on to the customers at a price point of say...$10.00.

But Warner has chosen the other route and decided to try to maximize their profits and prey on the poor obsessive collector, hoping that even in these dire financial times, he or she will not be able to resist the impulse and plunge ahead and go on a wild buying spree.

Not this obsessive collector. If they were $10.00 each, I probably would have planned on ordering at least 10 titles per month. At $20.00 each, I will order nothing.

Warner has stated they are delighted at the initial response. Don't be fooled Warner. Some people dove in, picked out a few of their very favorites to test the waters. I predict the reorders will be slow in coming until common sense arrives. And don't play around with coupons and weekend specials to move more product. Just make the price $10.00 each and the order floodgates will open.

Yes, the concept is interesting and I was initially thrilled at the prospect of all of these Warner catalog titles finally being available on DVD. But when the financial reality of it set in, my giddiness quickly turned to disappointment.

Here is the major question I want to ask Warner:

How many people do you think are going to pay $20.00 for Masie Goes to Reno?

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I got a call from WB today stating that that the movie I ordered over the phone Bright Leaf (had to order by phone as it was taken off the web site) was on back order until June. They did charge my card and stated they were giving me credit or something. Oh well, there's 26 dollars I'll probably never see again.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I just called WB customer support as after I got a call stating that Bright Leaf was going to be cancelled, I went on to the web site and it stated the order had shipped.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/a...eaforder-2.jpg

The Customer service rep stated that the movie was just going to be shipped out to me and it ran in contractoral problems that is going to prevent it from being sold at this time and that my credit card was going to be fully refunded for the 26 dollars.

Oh well, it looks like that's a movie we won't be seeing released in the near future under this program.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

It does make sense that they'll be charging you upon receipt of order for this service since it is order on demand. Whereas if they were just boxing up stock, they can always just put the discs back on the shelf if your card is rejected.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I don't mind them charging my card.As long as they send out the discs promptly after .They had a full week after they charged my card to fill my order and they still can't even tell me when it will be ready.Sounds to me like a major cluster.I hope that they fix this issue down the line.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

Frank:

I hope you don't mind...but your posts would be much easier to read with one or two spaces after each period at the end of a sentence. Two is standard, but internet and computer usage have dropped that standard for many to just one space. Otherwise, your paragraphs look like one long run-on sentence.

I certainly hope you are able to get satisfaction on your order from Warners.

And...welcome to the forum!

I can't believe that Warner doesn't believe that ANY of these Archive titles wouldn't sell even a couple thousand units. Not only that, I can't believe that doing these as DVD-Rs is REALLY giving them all that much of a savings. I appreciate their efforts for sure, but even I could sell 2000 units for DOC SAVAGE for cryin' out loud! I guess, for the "big boys" with millions of dollars in overhead, every nickel counts. For us, making 2-3000 DVDs of a title is commonplace.

That's one of those things I've never quite got. I'm familiar with the titles from Synapse, and, heck, if you had Doc Savage I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of your biggest sellers. Your DVDs are always top-notch, from transfer to packaging to just overall quality. If companies like yours can sell such "small" titles at such high quality, I just don't get why larger companies can't.

Are you able to insert a new blank post at the start of the thread where a summary of the ratings could be made?

It could just list the films as reviews come in there could be a one word summary e.g. "Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent, Outstanding" something like that. Otherwise people will have to read through the entire thread to find particular titles.

Just a suggestion.

re: Warner Archive Discussion Thread

I was checking the InsiderRewards pages of the site and pictures of Love Is Better Than Ever (52) and Tarzan's Magic Fountain (49) have a caption mentioning they are (will be) part of the Warner Archive Collection.

Found this, while Googling, from someone whose order shipped the same day the order was placed:
"The discs were made in the first week of March, before the site went live, probably in anticipation of some sales. Popular titles that sell out might take longer to ship."
That obviously means the initial supply of certain/numerous films sold more quickly than anticipated. That's awesome news.
