Do they not have anything anamorphic in the Archives, or have I just not looked at any of them?

Yes, they have anamorphic titles. My assumption is 16x9 LETTERBOX is anamorphic. Try buying a 16X9 FULL FRAME title and see what it looks like. You're confusing me now. No wait a minute, I have to be right, since SALEM'S LOT is listed FULL FRAME, but if you get it you will find it's a nice anamorphic transfer. Someone else weigh in here. Am I right, or am I wrong?

16:9 full frame is used to indicate an anamorphic transfer using the full 16:9 frame, 4x3 letterbox is used to indicate a non anamorphic transfer.  16:9 letterbox is probably the same as 16x9 full frame, but indicates a letterboxed  2.35:1 transfer within the 16:9 frame.

My interpretation as always been when 16:9 is mentioned, it means the DVD is anamorphic widescreen, and when FULL FRAME is mentioned I naturally assume that means the movie, or show is 4:3. So, when I read 16:9 FULL FRAME, I asked myself how can a movie be 16:9 4:3?

It would be easier if WB mentioned whether their MODs are either anamorphic widescreen or full frame. It would cut out the confusion. Times like these is when I miss my Sony Trintron, and the good old days of VHS. Having said that I could never go back, not once I saw how gorgeous a HD TV makes a DVD movie.

Finally! Got an order in under the wire! It's also my birthday month; so I got an extra 20% in addition to the 5-for-$50 deal.

They extended the 5 for $50 sale one more day or through today (11/30).  I finally took the bite and bought the five new Stanwick films and if purchased individually, it is $50.00 and no shipping.  Better than the bundle they offer of $59.99 for the same films. smile.gif

I finally took the bite yesterday and bought 10 for $100, so no one had better tell me they decide to extend through tomorrow, because December is my birthday month and that 20% would have been most welcome.

 An Enemy of the People

They mailed a replacement for the first bad disque I received. This one worked.

I placed an order during the Black Friday sale and it still hasn't arrived. On the 7th it was in Ohio, on the 9th Pennsylvania, and no update since. It's now the 13th, and I'm in New York - not a great distance to travel. What has the average waiting time been since they went to free shipping? I haven't ordered from them since the program first began.

I just received my Black Friday order today (11/13). Took 12 days, an atypically long time to here in Brooklyn.

Got my Black Friday order today as well (12/13).

Man, I hope I get mine tomorrow.

Did not order Black Friday, but did order 5 for 50 11/30/10 and those came in today.

WB just notified me that my GREEN SLIME shipped out today!

Sweet!

I'll assume it'll most likely be coming this week.

An Animals-gone-amuck TV-movie (The Pack) and a couple of forgotten 80's slashers are making their way to the Archives next year. Its nice of Warner to include lowbrow films of ALL genres, not just stuff from the 30's.

Not that I'm a big slasher fan, but which ones? Just in case I have heard of them and need them.

I heard NIGHT SCHOOL and KILLER PARTY are two on the list.

Just did a little research on these three (set for a Feb. 2011 release), and it looks like KILLER PARTY might be the one I'll buy. I looked them up on IMDB and I may have seen it when I was a kid. The plot seems familiar, and it seems to be not just a slasher flick, for the killer is an evil spirit, he possesses some chick, killings ensue, etc. I might give this one a go.

Here's some trivia I found on IMDB about it, which I thought was interesting:

This film began filming in 1978, but when it was 90% done, the film was shut down due to going over-budget. The rest of the film was shot in 1984, but sat on the shelf for two years before receiving a limited theatrical release by MGM in an edited version that omitted most of the gore in the original cut.

When released in 1986 the title was changed from "The April Fools" to "Killer Party" because the distributors feared that it would be confused with the film April Fool's Day (1986/I) which was also released around that time.

UPDATE: Went back and looked at THE PACK again on IMDB. Hmmm, jury's still out on that one. Animal attack flicks creep my out, especially, if they're done realistically, and they say the attack scenes in this one are rather realistic. I'm tempted. Don't know yet.
UPDATE

THE PACK was a theatrical film, not a tv-movie.

Shawn, The Pack rules!  On a unrelated note(From the Pack ruling, that is!) Has anyone bought Bachelor Mother? If anyone has, did your front artwork seem out of focus, like a blow-up that went slightly wrong? Let me know please, before I waste time calling warners. Thanks!

The more I thought about THE PACK, essentially, when I realized Joe Don Baker was in it, I have vague memories of seeing the trailer on TV, and that's what creeped me out. Basically, any movie that makes me it's bitch, to put it bluntly, is pretty much a winner. Which is why I have yet to conquer my fears and buy GRIZZLY. Jesus, anyone remember that one?! That one I actually saw and, Christ, I have been mentally scarred ever since. It still resides on my DVD Empire wishlist, and with the remaining credit I had, I was debating whether to buy it, or go with another flick, one I have never seen, but have always wanted to, JUST BEFORE DAWN. The latter won out, and it's currently on it's way to me.

Well, if I got the money, KILLER PARTY looks like a go, with strong leanings to acquiring THE PACK, too. But, that's only if the funds are there in Feb when they come out. Hope to God they are.

I'm in Chicago. Oddly, my two Black Friday orders started in Carol Stream, IL, about 40 miles away. It went to Cincinnati, then Warrendale, PA; DesMoines, IA; and then Chicago. Very strange. Took a total of 12 days.

Here's what I presume is going to be the cover art for THE PACK, NIGHT SCHOOL and KILLER PARTY, if they go ahead and keep using the theatrical posters. I have zero interest in NIGHT SCHOOL, but thought I'd provide it anyway, in case there are any interested parties reading this post. I gotta say I like that KILLER PARTY artwork:

THE PACK almost plays like a TV movie, ironically it was originally released as LONG DARK NIGHT and given a PG rating, a year later, Warner changed the title, and asked for an R rating or something to get an R (the film really doesnt deserve an R, GRIZZLY on the other hand, does).

As for NIGHT SCHOOL, the original theatrical poster (Paramount released it theatrically) did not feature Rachel Ward, so they might use that instead.

You must be referring to this NIGHT SCHOOL poster, and here's the alternate title theatrical for THE PACK:

Never seen any of these . All three look interesting . Night school being set in Boston interests me the most . Plus it has Rachel Ward .yum.gif

Hey, man, where'd ya get that licking face emoticon?! That's cool, it's not offered in the Insert Smiley button. Back on topic . . . the more I think about, and the more I look at its poster, I think I'm gonna try real hard to set aside the funds for KILLER PARTY. THE PACK, looks more like a WB wishlist candidate, for now, anyway. I looked through my Fangoria index and learned they covered KILLER PARTY in four issues--the four issues I don't own. Figures. Gotta do some more website scouring, like to learn more about it. And, THE PACK, come to think about.
