When they re-release some of the (better selling) titles as pressed discs, the old poster art will be part of the marketing strategy to get fans to buy the title again.

Just keeping up the information to my order from hell at the wb shop. Last i was told, by the customer service supervisor, was that my order was being sent out next day air on Friday. That was after they told me it was going out on Thursday next day air. Well it's late Monday morning and not only did i not get said order, but it still has not been sent out. Nor has my bank account been re credited the %50 discount they told me last Wednesday they were giving me. And the supervisor that is "handling" this order can't be located to help me. So it's been 3 weeks since i placed the order and the money was taken from my account. One day under two weeks since i contacted them to see where the order was. I assume they will send me my order at some point. By far and with no other even close. This is the WORST on line store i have dealt with to date.

That has turned into a horror story, Frank.

The supervisor handling the order "can't be located?"  They have your money and keep making promise after promise that they will get your order out and provide a partial refund...but have failed to do either?

Slipshod to the point of near larceny.

Let's not forget films that never made it to VHS (& Beta) or Laserdisc - they NEVER stood a chance to be released on pressed DVDs!

Horror story is kinda how i'm looking at this order now. Yesterday the supervisor who told me she fixed my order and was sending it out Friday next day air disappeared. After leaving her a message early in the day before she got in,i'm on east coast they are western time zone, i called back later and she had left for the day. Which means she got in after 9am and went home before 1pm. Nice job. Anyway, i talked to another supervisor and he told me my order would ship. When i asked when he told me they didn't know. They couldn't be held responsible for the warehouse error. When i explained to him that his company is responsible since they took my money and they are selling the product he had nothing to say. Bottom line is it's now been over 3 weeks since order went in and money came out of my account. The best they can do is tell me that my order will ship. When they can't tell me. I'm suppose to hear from the women supervisor who ditched me yesterday. I was told she would contact me today. To cancel order now will be painful. First because of the discount and second because then i will have to go through the process of them refunding my bank.

This is really depressing.  I hope it works out for you.  They should just send your order free after all this.  By the way, I wonder where I can get a job that I can screw up all the time and only work four hours a day.  Oh wait I know.

Boris' sad tale of woe only strengthens my resolve to wait until the Archive titles I desire move over to Movies Unlimited.  I don't mind waiting three months; that's much less hassle than what Boris and others have gone through with this program's "customer service."
I rarely if ever pay full price for anything from the Archives thanks to promotional codes and coupons. I ordered the Joan Crawford 6 disc value pak for about $45 (excluding tax) and that comes to about $7.50 per title and free shipping to boot. High priced indeed!

Well bully for you. I on the other hand, only want one movie - Doc Savage - and that's it. 20 bucks for one baby step above a pirated, burned at home DVD-R is about 15 bucks too much.

Dude, two words for you: Charge Back! Don't stand for getting dicked around and call the credit card people. If they don't deliver, don't pay for the service.
Tony C Trust me i never get dicked around. But to put a happy ending on a bad situation i received my order in the mail this morning. It was sent next day air. The supervisor i had been dealing with called me last night and told me she was sorry for not getting back to me. She told me she had refunded my money and had confirmed,by e-mail, with the warehouse that my order was being sent out. I did get my order today and i am suppose to have a full refund in my bank by this afternoon. I think that she did her best to fix the issue.  Most of my orders have gone smoothly. But the couple that didn't have been nightmares to fix. In each instance it involved the warehouse messing up the order. The customer service section then cannot contact them directly to fix the problem. They have to go through this convoluted process of e mailing the warehouse and waiting for a response. If you have someone who puts an effort in fixing the issue it will get fixed.Like the second person i dealt with. After she took over it took her a week to get the order fixed. The first supervisor i dealt with did not put in an effort and things didn't go anywhere for over a week. Bottom line is WB needs to fix the way their customer service and warehouse deal with each other. You should just have to call the customer service. They should then be able to call the warehouse. Problem fixed.

The Dogville set has 9 shorts. Aren't there 10? Is there a reason why one is excluded?

Well, the newest Archive titles at Movies Unlimited/TCM are now available for $ 25. I'm out. Fortunately, some Archive titles got a real retail release in Europe.

Boris, please a line break or paragraph every few sentences.

Has anyone watched Don't Be Afraid of the Dark yet?
Looks like it's on sale for $15 right now but I still can't pull the trigger on this and even my favorite movie, On Borrowed Time because i've had my share of troub;le with the Warner store over the years too.

I ordered "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (and "Edison the Man") last Wednesday (Sept 9) and received them both on Monday (Sept 14).

I haven't had the chance to watch either one yet, but I did pop each disc in to make sure I'd gotten the right movie.  I skipped to a few different chapter stops in "Afraid" and it looked fine to me.  By way of disclaimer, though, I'm not terribly discriminating and I've got a very pedestrian set-up, so my opinion my not carry much weight.  There was a bit of hiss in the audio and the video wasn't pristine, but neither of these issues bothered me - and I haven't watched it all yet.  For $15, I'm happy with it.

I posted something about this release a few pages back.

It looks...uhm....okay.

Looks extremely dated, has a lot of noise in the picture.

No major restoration of any kind was done to this film but
that's the reason why it was releases in the Archive collection
I suppose.

The fact that it is on DVD certainly gives it better resolution
without the added noise VHS added to it so this is certainly
a better copy than what has been previously available.

I am just happy to finally own it.

These are the ones I found but I haven't checked all Archive titles. Just those I'm interested in. Especially in France, several RKO titles have been released by Éditions Montparnasse, that aren't available in the States or have been released as an Archive title only.

Tony D if it bothers you to read my posts.DON'T. I sure will make an effort not to read yours.

Frank,

I think Tony was just making a friendly suggestion on better
formatting your posts to convey your ideas.

Now that the suggestion was made, let's leave it at that.  Frank,
you are welcome to post in any manner that you wish.  Let's
try and be respectful to each other.

There are only nine Dogville Comedies.  A lot of sources list THE DOGVILLE MURDER CASE and WHO KILLED ROVER as separate entries, when in fact it is only one short with two titles.  One was a re-release title.

I have always been mystified at these shorts.  Not only do they make you stop watch like a deer caught in headlights, but history says that the audience in the early 30's clamored for more of these shorts, but only 9 were made before the series ended.  If they were so popular, why were more not produced?
The dogs wanted too much money. :) I wish Lars Von Trier's DOGVILLE starred actual dogs.

Maybe the studio actually got some flack for the treatment of the Dogs?

Yes Ron and Frank exactly, didn't mean any malice. Just easier to read is all.

I do want to read your posts as well as everyone's posts so I never would skip over anyone or block them.
I wanted to know how your order worked out.

Your situation is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to order from them these days.
I've had similar troubles.
They added a new title:
Term of Trial (1963)

Took me a few minutes to figure out what it was since it doesn't show under New Releases.
Frankly it would be nice if we had a whole new thread on this..this one has become a bit of a mess. It's mostly filled with drama and bitterness. I totally understand the problems some have had and feel for them but in reality it's still probably a minority of the buying public, just seems more because of all the posts. It's  not worth really weeding through all these posts anymore.
"this one has become a bit of a mess. It's mostly filled with drama and bitterness".

I agree. There should be a separate thread entitled "Warner Archive: The Complaints" and another thread called "Warner Archives: The Films". That way one faction wouldn't have to put up with the other. "The Complaints" would attract the "Satan spawned the Archives and the apocalypse is upon us" crowd and "The Movies" would attract those who want to discuss the films (current and forthcoming) in the Archives programs.
There's already a separate review thread for the actual movies.   Personally, I want to hear all sides about the program, the pro and the con, and I don't see anything wrong with this current thread.  The complaints have definitely subsided at least compared to the way it was a couple of months ago, and I don't find it difficult at all to read the several new posts that occur daily.  I want to hear about what new titles are added and any good news that comes from that - and also about any problems with certain discs or problems with ordering.  Separating the two is putting a paper bag over your head.
