Vista Update Failure

hi guys
I just returned home from a 2 week trip.
Both of my home laptops no longer work.
Laptop one....does not get past the loading screen
Laptop 2...showed loading update 1 then 2. When it gets to stage 3 it just keeps rebooting and will not go any further.

I have tried the windows " start with last known good configuration" but that doesnt help either.

help??

hi guys
I was able to figure it out.
there was another advanced restore function which worked on the one PC. On the other PC i had to do a factory restore.
