This release is probably the first on Blu Ray of a film shot on the Red One 4K digital camera.

It will be interesting to see how it looks on BD and to a lesser extent, on DVD.

I can understand studios making direct to video sequels of your run-of-the-mill horror films or cranking out sequels to a children's series - I don't know that those sequels are any good, but I can understand the financial reasoning. But Donnie Darko fans are almost a cult. People liked the style of the film. You can't crank out Darko films in a series. I guess I should withhold judgement till its released. Perhaps it is better than one would think, but this just sounds so stupid.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: S. Darko (DVD/Blu-ray)

Making a DTV sequel makes perfect sense here. Donnie Darko obtained its cult status from video rentals and sales, not from its theatrical release. The people who latched onto Donnie Darko are going to be at least curious enough to check out reviews or (more likely) rent it. Whether or not the film turns out to be any good is another matter entirely.

It's probably about as good as the Legally Blonde direct-to-dvd cheapquel that showed up yesterday...

A 32" philips widescreen tube.

I won't be renting this after it's released even just to see what it looks like on the big tv, it was crap.
