How To Convert "MPEGs" or "AVIs" to "DVD Video" Format?

Hi:

I use a YouTube converter to download “FLV” videos from YouTube. As a result, I now have several video clips in formats such as MPEGs, AVIs, etc. What I am looking for is a free software download that can convert these file clips on my PC to "DVD Video" format (onto a DVD to play in a standard DVD player).

I used to be able to do this using Nero 7 (Nero Vision), but the 30 day trial on the MPEG2 converter ran out. So what I need is a free software or tool that I can download that can convert these MPEGs and AVIs to a "DVD Video" format so I can burn them to a DVD which I can then play on a standard DVD player.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Ron

An update: The AVS Video Converter (AVS Video Converter - a universal AVI to MPEG Converter, AVI to DVD Converter.) is not comparible with my operating system (Windows 2000). Does anyone know of a free converter that will work with Windows 2000?

I've been using DVD Flick to create DVDs from several different video file formats (mpg, wmv, flv, etc). It works really well for this purpose and it's quicker than NeroVision Express (included with my Nero 6.5 software). My only complaint is that you are limited to just a few basic menu templates but oh well... it's free.

I'm running it on a Windows XP Pro PC but the web site says it works with Windows 2000 as well as Vista.
