question on subwoofer calibration

Hi! What should be the volume level of the subwoofer when calibrating with an SPL meter? Should it be the same as the rest of the speakers?

Re: question on subwoofer calibration

Yes. But you'll find with some sources you'll need to tweak it a little bit.

Re: question on subwoofer calibration

I would recommend calibrating it to the same level as the rest of your speakers and see if it works well for you. I actually prefer my sub to be 10dB hot.

Yep.

Re: question on subwoofer calibration

Set the sub to the same level and see how you like it, seems most prefer it a little hotter than the rest of the system, 2-5 db seems to be the normal range. Thing to remember is it is your system, set it up the way YOU like it.

Re: question on subwoofer calibration

Are you using the on-board test tones from your receiver or a calibration disc?
Avia II's sub test tone had me turning my sub up @4db from the where it was dialed in using the receiver's test tone. Made a fantastic improvement without being overwhelming.
