About a month ago, I tripped a circuit breaker at my house while pulling a plug out of a surge protector. Reset the breaker, turned the TV and cable box (connected via component cables), and all seemed well. A few days later, I turned my PS3 on for the first time, and I didn't get a feed. I assumed for a few days that the PS3 was broken. Then I remembered that I had a Sanyo Z5 projector stashed away (unfortunately the place I'm renting is too small to use it, looking forward to moving away). I hooked up the PS3 to it via HDMI to see if it would work on the front projector, and no luck. So I've waited a few weeks, planning on getting it fixed when I had the spare cash as I use it mainly for Blu Ray films, the HDMI out is crucial.
With so many video game systems in the past having video outputs specific to the system, I'd forgotten the PS3 uses a plain old universal HDMI output. So to check to see if the TV may be faulty, I hooked my cable box up to the Panny via HDMI. Nothing, no video or audio on EITHER HDMI input. So I checked the cable box on the projector via HDMI. It didn't work either. Now, a few weeks later, I gave it one last shot, individually connecting the PS3 and cable box to both the TV and projector. No output from the PS3 to either the the projector or TV. Moved to the cable box, no luck on the TV, then finally I got a feed from it on the front projector.
So having the first signal from the HDMI cable since the breaker flipping, I took the HDMI cable straight from the back of the projector and connected it to the TV. Nothing on either input. Went back to the projector, and the feed was still there.
So basically, what the hell? I'm hoping it's not the TV, as I purchased it just under a year ago and don't know the warranty situation. Any ideas?
