HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt - Page 2

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

As for the film originally being quirkier, well, meet the Robinsons had plenty of quirkiness, that doesn't mean it was a terrific movie though.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Bolt (Three-Disc Edition w/ Standard DVD + Digital Copy + BD Live) [Blu-ray]

Nice review Matt,

I have to say this one surprised me and was enjoyable of a title to review.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

IMO the present Walt Disney Studio Animation had in a sense gone back to the quality of their 70's & 80's films (really bad). That being said I wasn't expecting much going into this. But to my surprise I was really taken back to how good the film was. Needless to say this is a day one purchase for me.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

FYI: Disney is going to treat Bedtime Stories that same way they did the Bolt release. The BD/DVD combo pack is going to street on Sunday while the DVD only set is relased the following Tuesday.

I actually prefer these types of releases. It's an easy sell for the wife and flexible for the children when they want to watch it in their rooms. Until I can get a BD player in each room this works out great. Disney does BD good, another great video, and the kids loved it. Now if we can only get the 10.00 coupon before each Disney release it would be great.

Yeah, no kidding...that $10 coupon really helps, so I hope it comes back around for Monsters, Inc. and Bug's Life. I used the coupon at a big box retailer today and walked out with it for $19.95 including tax.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Target took the coupon $27 - $10 = $17.

I also purchased the box of pasta for $1.28 (so it's on the very same receipt) and I'll get that mail-in rebate out in tomorrow's mail.

$17 - $4 = $13. That's just crazy...but absolutely great.

just a heads up
you might run into some problems with that as the verbage of the rebate reads as follows

Quote:
Step 2:
Cash register receipt from your Bolt DVD or Blu-ray purchase
imprinted with store name and dated between March 24, 2009
and July 31, 2009
with purchase price circled (photocopies acceptable).

now I'm sure the March 24th date was used as they didn't realize Disney was giving the BD version a 2 day exclusive window.....
they even have this text on their page which is only somewhat accurate
Quote:
Offer ends 7/31/09
Good in U. S. only.
Void where prohibited.
Bolt DVD and Blu-ray available in stores 3/24/2009.

just saying you either should have waited to purchase on Tuesday or you might need to do some arguing

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

I think it's a true plus that they stick a conventional DVD in the blu ray pack. I usually want to share films and not everyone has blu ray players.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

it is a plus if they are not adding noticable cost by doing so
otherwise there is a reason I have moved from SD to HD

by the way what I have seen and heard of this movie thus far (only sampled a bit tonight) looked and sounded absolutely amazing ... and the story was entertaining thus far as well

Oh, good grief. That's bogus. I picked it up today too and we've already watched it.

The Best Buy sale price for Bolt is 27.99, sale price for Quantum Of Solace 25.99 and I heard you can even find it for less at Toys R Us. But a couple bucks extra for a pack with a DVD is a-ok with me.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

price points of 27.99 and 25.99 are not alright by me with even with a SD dvd included

yes, I already picked up Bolt for 16.99 + tax after coupon

unless all releases offer $10 off coupons upon release I stand by my original statement that any substantial additional cost in the form of a SD dvd is not a bonus IMO

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Dang it--I had no idea about that coupon !$#@!@#$
Just bought the BR yesterday; great movie! I can't believe how overlooked this movie really was when it came out. It's a charmer. That also is the cutest damn dog--!

I think they should do a follow-up in which Bolt meets the Incredibles; sort of a combination sequel for both of these. I'd love to see a sequel for the Incredibles...

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Wow, just got done watching this one with the family and it totally blew me away (as well as them). Great story, very well done and some very funny scenes. AQ and PQ were incredible....right up there with the best Pixar stuff and Kung Fu Panda.
This was a good blind buy for us and I'll highly recommend it to our friends.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Used the $10 coupon and my $20 Best Buy Reward Zone coupon and picked up both this and Pinocchio. It was like getting one title for free. Disney should continue this.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Bolt

Just when I thought I was totally burnt on cartoons, I watched this tonight, very well done. By far better then anything Pixars put out over the last several years (sans UP which I have not seen).

The Blu-ray is fantastic, as good as all the other cartoons before it on Blu. But the audio, amazing, some serious bass in this one which was a nice surprise. Great use of the surrounds and very enveloping.

Very worth a rental.
