Yep, I finally took the plunge last Friday. Funny, I don't feel that different. Or maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet. Wish the wife liked zombie movies.

It wasn't until I had my first real fight with my wife that it really sunk in for me. I mean the type of fight where you think about walking out and then realize you have no where to go and everything to lose.

Now 11 years later I still have no where to go and no one would want my old ass anyway. Haha

Congrats! I highly recommend that you continue to refer to her as "the wife". That's a sure-fire way to make her feel that she made the right decision in marrying you.

Congratulations! Those first few weeks are bizarre, merging lives, realizing you have all manner of weird habits that you never noticed when you were single, and spending innumerable hours shopping for stuff you never cared about

It's a good life.

Thanks for the kind words and humor, guys!

I actually did get her to watch one zombie flick: Land of the Dead. But that's only because she thinks Simon Baker is hot. And she hates midgets* so she enjoyed a certain scene!

We get along well despite our age difference (18 years - I'm 42, she's 24) and the fact that she digs country music. (I can forgive her for that since she did get me a beagle pup for Valentine's Day.)

As someone who will be celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary this year, I will offer these sage words of advice:

Introduce her to friends as "my first wife".

When someone asks how long you've been married, respond "X years. It's been the happiest three months of my life".

After being apart, when she asks "did you miss me?", answer "with every bullet so far". -- credit Al Bundy for this one.

If she asks if you ever remarried if she passed away, would you let the new wife wear her clothes? Answer with "No, she's not your size".

The midget was her age. I don't think she did anything to provoke him. Must have been a surly midget!

As far as posting goes, I haven't been posting nearly as much as I used to, but I do check in everyday and update my Zombie Movie Appreciation thead about once a month. Busy, busy, busy!
