Pioneer VSX-1014TX Power Issues

Hello,

Yesterday my Pioneer VSX-1014TX receiver (September 2004 build date) wouldn't power on.

Some things I tried that did not help:

-I switched to another known good outlet on the surge protector
-Reset the surge protector.
-I plugged it in to another outlet directly.
-Let it sit overnight unplugged with no changes.

Today I disconnected it from all devices and tried to plug it into another outlet and I didn't get any power. When I plugged it in to another outlet, it did get power but after I turned it off, it didn't power back on.

After a couple more outlets and plugging and replugging it finally powered back on. It has been with power for at least 15 minutes now. I'm concerned that if I turn it off or put it back in it's place with everything plugged in, it won't power on.

It's out of warranty, but was curious if anybody knew what kind of problem this is and if you think it would be expensive to repair? Pioneer customer service is closed and their website shows an authorized repair center about an hour away.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

George

Actually I'm surprised it came back on. Anyway you cut it, it isn't good...

There's a processor reset for that receiver. I cant remember which buttons to press off the top of my head.

We had to reset my buddies VSX-1014 2-3 years ago, its been fine ever since.

here it is: ENTER + VIDEO2 keys for 2 seconds on the front panel.

Thanks for the response. I tried plugging my receiver in again this evening and I didn't get power until after a few tries of plugging the receiver a few times into different plugs. Now, it is on and I've held Video 2 + Enter but nothing happens. Should I get some kind of notice or sound when it has been reset?

Re: Pioneer VSX-1014TX Power Issues

I had a 1014 lock up a few years ago. I remember the VIDEO 2 + ENTER code. There were a few of us that had the problem. The code did work for me and others, but the difference was, you could always turn the unit on. It was just that it instantly locked up, and all you would get was a flashing MCACC light on the front panel. I don't remember any of us back then actually having problems turning it on. Your problem sounds a bit different. It was certainly worth a try though.
