The Film

4/5

Super Speedway was originally shot and distributed in the IMAX film format and is narrated by Paul Newman. The film is the story of the Newman Haas racing team’s preparation for the racing season. The highlight of the film is the in car shots of Mario Andretti and his son Michael driving at both road tracks and super speedways. The action shots will really give you the feeling of actually being in the car. Additional footage of the cars actually being built and prepared in the factory will give the viewer a rare look into the technology behind a modern race car.

Interlaced into the story is a sub plot of the restoration of one of Mario’s Indy cars from the 1960’s and the film ends with Mario driving the restored car in rural Pennsylvania.

Video Quality

5/5
The video quality is absolutely great, in part due to its IMAX origin. The action sequences even in today’s world of High Def broadcasting stand out as the best I have ever seen. Curious about what it feels like to drive a race car? Watch this film.

Audio Quality

5/5

The film’s soundtrack is outstanding! I especially liked the sound from the in car sequences. Play the volume loud and you will get the feeling of actually driving the car due to the wind noise and sound of the tires hitting bumps.

Special Features

3/5

Not much here…

Fast facts

In Conclusion

4/5 (not an average)

Watch this film if you want a unique insight into the world of big time auto racing or if you just want to pretend to be a driver if only for a few minutes in the comfort of your home.

Re: HTF Blu-Ray Review: SUPER SPEEDWAY

Can you do a more detailed review of the features, they are just as important as the main feature especially on this title.

at least what are the times of the special features?
the dts dvd is 50min for the feature and 47min for the making of.

The making of is as good as and as interesting as the main feature.
So are the extras in hd also most importantly is the making of HD?

This is not OAR.
