Huh; I've had this on pre-order at Amazon for a few months, but I was started to doubt that it was ever going to be more than a placeholder.

I greatly enjoyed the couple episodes I saw during a free HBO preview, so I'm looking forward to this.

Yes! Really, really looking forward to this one. I saw it on DVD when it was released but held off on a purchase because of the Blu-ray rumors circulating at the time.

Given how great I thought the interactive maps/field guide were on the Band of Brothers BD, I have very high hopes for the "Facts are Stubborn Things" feature.

Re: WHV Press Release: John Adams (Blu-ray)

I came to this series on DVD. I don't have HBO and loved the McCullough book.

The DVD allowed me to attack the program at my own pace. And it was hard to get enough. It is a wonderful production.

I doubt I will double-dip on this (as much as I would love to.) But I bet it will look and sound absolutely stunning. The score is a highlight...along with the performances and CGI work.

Side note: I re-read the McCullough book afterwords to revisit the material and check on those stubborn facts. While the TV production did, of course, take some liberties with events for dramatic purpose (having Henry Knox stop in front of the Adam's homestead on his historic march was a bit much), I didn't think too many liberties were taken.

It's nice to see a reasonable MSRP on this.

I also liked the McCullough book (and don't have HBO) so I'll probably be getting this. (However, I don't like that the new editions of the book now have a picture from the series on the cover in place of Adams's own portrait, but that's beside the point.)

I was given 'The Adams Chronicles' for Christmas and have just finished watching it (them?) and was thinking of getting this set to watch next. It's a good thing they announced this edition before I ordered the SD set.
