Onkyo-606 overheating solution

Thread Starter
I recently bought the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver since I couldnt pass up the price at Circuit City (liquidation sale). Right away I noticed that this receiver runs a lot hotter than any of my old receivers. After looking around I found a very simple and effective solution especially if you have the receiver in an enclosed cabinet like I do.
Just get a cooling fan device thats designed for cooling laptops and lay it on top of the receiver. It works great and its only about an inch thick so it doesnt take up much space. The one I got is called a Chill Mat and its available at Target and Walmart. I attached a picture of it so I hope the attachment works. Anyway, these fans as well as most like this are powered with a USB cord. I picked up a USB to AC adapter (kodak) and I just plug it into the wall (surge protector) like everything else. My Onkyo now runs COOLER than any receiver I've had before.
I hope this information is helpful to anyone who owns the Onkyo and is looking for a solution to the heat issue.

Re: Onkyo-606 overheating solution

I can see where that would be a good solution for someone that's absolutely got to put it in an enclosed cabinet. I set my Onkyo 805 on top of the entertainment center, instead of on the shelf that my previous receivers used, and it doesn't get hot at all............
Good for you for finding another option.
