CD playback on PS3 w/o having to turn on the video source?

I have a PS3, an Epson 1080UB and an Onk 805 all wired up via HDMI. My problem is I am unable to play a CD unless I turn on my projector. Once it's turned on and the CD begins to play I can turn the FP off. Is there a way to play a CD on the PS3 w/o having to turn on my video source first?

My guess is the only option is to take a regular (not hdmi) digital or analog audio output from the PS3 (whatever you have available) and run it to an audio (ex: CD) input on the Onkyo and use that input for audio only listening.

That's what I thought as well, thanks John.

FWIW, it's actually a convenient way to run things since you can pre-select a movie sound mode for one use and Stereo for music. That's what I do anyway.
