But when I insert the burn dvd i made, its play perfectly. I really want to know why and how to solve this. Bose want to charge me a fee of $165. Has the Lifestyle 35 ever player regular DVDs?
What region DVDs are you playing in it?
Have you ever updated the firmware?

Re: Bose Lifestyle 35 only plays burn dvds not conventional dvds

I called Bose and they told me I have the most recent firmware update available. Yes, the lifestyle does play regular DVDs before, until recently its stop playing regular DVDs and ONLY play burn DVDs. I unplugged the system and wait for about a minute and plug back in to reset the system and its work, but now its doesn't play at all no matter what I did.

It's so frustrating because I paid so much money for a system that break down on me so early. Do you have any idea? Thanks very much.

Sounds like a region issue. Of course, Lifestyle systems have also been know to play nothing but Pauly Shore movies.

I do not have much working knowledge of BOSE equipment, nor do I recommend their products so I am of little help to your situation. Sorry.

Other than a firmware or region issue, I do not know. Searching online yields instructions on how to set the region on the Lifestyle system so you may try that. As with any internal software setting or hack, try at your own risk.

Re: Bose Lifestyle 35 only plays burn dvds not conventional dvds

You need to verify the region - both of the player and your discs. You also need to let us know where you're located. I'm assuming the U.S., but I'd like to confirm that. If so, your player should be set to region 1. Have you moved recently, especially between countries?

Like most people here I'm not a fan of Bose products, which I think are mostly over-priced and under-performing, and don't have any direct knowledge of your system, so we're all at a disadvantage You might try a Google search for a Bose user's community.

Joe

Hi, thanks for all your feedbacks. I am living in the US. I do agree with you guy that BOSE does overpriced and underperformance. However, I do like the compact designed. I tried google and nothing come up on how to set up region code. It's work before, I don't know why it doesn't work now. Thanks.

Re: Bose Lifestyle 35 only plays burn dvds not conventional dvds

I did a little more research and found that this is a common complaint of the Lifestyle 28 and 35 systems.

Concerning setting the region: A google search yielded this result.

Brian,

I recently experienced the exact same problem with my Lifestyle 35.  Tried all the region code tricks mentioned above with no luck.  Since purchasing my Lifestyle 35 in 2002, I have received 3 system update disks from Bose.  Just to see what would happen, I tried reinstalling the updates, and checked to see if a store bought DVD would play after each update was installed.  To my surprise, the system was restored to normal function after the second update was reinstalled.  Store bought and copied DVDs now play normally.  I have no idea why the fault happened, but I suspect that after you play a sufficient number of copied DVDs that have had the region code removed by the decrypting software, the Lifestyle 35 defaults to a no region code state and won't let you play region coded DVDs.  Anyway, if you received the system update disks from Bose, give it a try and see what happens.

Steve
