Receiver Help: Denon AVR-2809CI

Denon USA | AVR-2809CI

i've been into Home Theater Equipment for quite a few years. my setup currently is getting pretty outdated.

- CRT Sony 27" Wega series
- Sony 6.1 Channel Receiver
- Definitive Technology BP series Towers, CLR Center Channel, and BP Surrounds.
- Toshiba Flagship DVD Player

i have my eyes set on the Denon AVR-2309CI to go with a Samsung LN40A630. are the Denon's as good as they were 3-4 years ago? i definitely want to go the AL24 processing route, it's made a noticable difference everytime i've heard them. are there any other receivers i should check out?

I have had my 3808ci for about a year now and I love it. Yamaha, HK, Marantz are all worth looking at also. I left Onkyo out because I replaced one with the Denon and there was no comparison. I know for a fact that the new Onkyo receivers get very hot, scary hot.

Only if you close them in, so they can't get any air, which actually can happen to any receiver that has decent amps in it.
I use an Onkyo TX-SR805, and it hasn't gotten hot at all. And I'm driving 4 ohm, power hungry speakers. But I don't have it closed in............

Onkyo amps get hotter than most other amps unless they are sitting out in the open. Most people have them in racks of some kind.
