Ok so I'm new here, just getting into home audio and video and have "collected" a couple of pieces from friends and family members who have recently upgraded. I am having one very annoying problem. Here is my setup for people to know:
TV: Sharp Aquos LC-52D62U 52" 1080p
Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR 146
Speakers: Harmon Kardon HKTS-15 set
Also in the mix:
HD PVR
XBOX 360
Ok, so my problem is that I want to have surround sound for my satellite and for my XBOX 360 as that is what I use to watch movies most of the time. My receiver is not capable of "processing" HDMI audio signals (or so I was told) which means that if I hook up an HDMI source directly to the receiver I would also have to hookup a separate audio cable. And then I would also have to hook an HDMI cable from my receiver to my TV. My bigger problem is that the 360 does not have an optical audio out on it.
I thought I had had it figured out. I plugged my PVR and 360 directly into my TV with HDMI cables. I then ran an optical cable from my TV to my receiver for the audio. I figured that I would be able to switch inputs on my TV from XBOX to satellite and just leave the same input on for my receiver. Problem is that for whatever reason, only the satellite signal ends up coming out of the speakers. I cannot get sound from my XBOX to come out of my receiver. It is on the same source as the satellite so should i not be able to leave it on there? Any help would be hugely appreciated this is incredibly frustrating.
