Re: Should i Buy from BestBuy

If you want to pay too much, go to Best Buy. It's rare that I ever find them to have the lowest price on anything (except laptops - for some reason, they seem to have decent prices on those; I actually recently bought one from there).

You didn't mention what you're looking to buy, but if it's in the electronics/computer area, there are a number of online vendors I'd recommend: Amazon (generally terrific); Buy.com; Abt; Crutchfield (not always lowest price, but great support); Newegg.

If you know what you're looking for and have done your research, BB is a viable option. But as Tim mentioned, you can often find a better deal with another retailer.

Re: Should i Buy from BestBuy

My friend bought a Sony BDP-S550 from Best Buy last Saturday. It was the best price of any of the other B&M stores in town (we went to them all). He probably could have bought it cheaper online, but it was the cheapest locally, at Best Buy.

HH Gregg had the cheapest price on the tv he bought though.

Re: Should i Buy from BestBuy

I just returned an entire home theater to Best Buy today, I discarded the boxes and they took it back with no issues (within 30 days). This was not a HTIB... two tower speakers, two surrounds, a center and powered sub. Only downside was that they issue a check if you paid with cash and it's over a rather small amount ($200 IIRC).

It gives you some piece of mind if you do decide to return a purchase.

Best buy is alright for a lot of things I usually use it along with Newegg or Amazon to search for some other stuff (books etc).

I usually always purchase on Amazon or NewEgg. You will get
a much better deal over stores like Best Buy.

I have never had an issue returning anything to either company.

Re: Should i Buy from BestBuy

As long as you buy from an authorized dealer with a good return policy it shouldn't matter where you get it from. If BB has what you're looking for at a good price (including tax) and you want it right now then get it. Just do your research and decide on exactly what you want before you go in. If you like to do you're shopping in the comfort of your own home and want someone else to lug that 55lb Onkyo 906 up three flights of stairs (be sure to offer a Snapple!) and you can wait a few days then get it on-line.

Personally, most of my HT purchases are now made on-line. In fact, most have been used from e-Bay/Audiogon (Pioneer 59txi, 59avi, pd-59 and a sub from PE) or refurbished (Yamaha S2500). The last BM purchase I made was a tv from Fry's a year an a half ago. Otherwise, it's been internet direct companies like OPPO and Ozht.com (Swan).

Re: Should i Buy from BestBuy

Oh where do i even start with Best Buy. As others have mentioned, they never have the cheapest prices, except [usually] on Dell/HP/Gateway laptops. And their rewards program is basically nothing. You get a $5 expiring coupon for every $200 you spend there. What a ripoff. I'd recommend pretty much any online store over Best Buy: Newegg, Tigerdirect, and Amazon are my favorites. Usually there are a lot of free shipping deals too.
