Yup, that's what I was thinking too.....probably not a "new" episode.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Jeff's interest in the tooth could have been a liability prevention move.

I wonder if any of Spencer's tribemates suspected he was gay. I watched the immunity challenge again and didn't see where he was that bad... only a couple of others stood out as good. Spencer seemed mediocre at it like most of the rest.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Spencer said that Sydney figured out he was gay--I wouldn't be too surprised if his conversation with her as well as his "I'm not sure whether I should come out to them" comments were taken from earlier in the game.

Yep, the next episode is the dreaded recap--I actually do enjoy these since they contain fun little scenes that don't really matter in the story but are still too good to be left as online bonus footage. But after a 13-day break and only five episodes in, it seems less than ideal.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I know that basketball affects the schedule, but did they skip a week in previous years? I thought they just shifted to Wed for 2-3 weeks in a row. Wonder why it's different this year.

Great way to lose the flow of the storyline, with 3 weeks between real episodes.

It's not unusual to have a week built into the airing schedule where there's no new ep. Most seasons have a clip show halfway through.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

new episode 6 preview is up. I always knew there was a lot of footage that ended up on the cutting room floor. Maybe we'll get to know some people better.

Just FYI, on Wed 25th this week, not thursday because of basketball.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Nothing against college basketball but I'm really happy we are going to get a real episode of Survivor on Thursday. Things may be going bad for Coach. I'm not sure I really want to see him go... His antics usually take up half the episode.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

So what's the point of fighting over immunity idols if nobody ever has the guts to use them? Taj would have been dead meat if JT turned on her.

Although I do think that Taj making a fake idol was a great idea - one of the best moments I've ever seen in this game.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Jeff Probst has stated in his EW blog that one of the rules for the HII is that it cannot be taken from one player. The questions is, if Taj hides it in Stephen's clothes, is there an actual transferrance of ownership or does Taj have to actually offer it to Stephen for hm to be able to use it? In my mind, HII transferrance must be agreed upon by the original owner. Besides, Taj is the one who stashed it in Stephen's pants, so it's not like she actually gave it to him.

I think Erinn will flip (I couldn't tell if Joe selection of Erinn to accompany him to Exile was shrewdly strategic or accidental horniness), and if Bredan and Sierra joins them, they could take out the rest of Timbira and then activate the Exile alliance.

How obvious was it that Sydney was leaving when Joe told her she had "a free pass"? That was before the credits.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

People have made fake idols in three of the last four seasons before Tocantins. This episode would've been amazing if JT and Stephen turned on Taj while possessing the idol she found--JT would be one of my favorites if he had the balls to do that.

Best moment of the night, at the immunity challenge:
Joe: "JT, do you want me to do the shooting?"
Tyson: "I can do it for you if you want."

Ah - I haven't watched Survivor since the first few episodes of Cook Islands - so I hadn't seen the fake idol ploy yet. Of course that makes Joe a bit of an idiot for falling for it.

Yes, that was great.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

...and how dumb are Erinn and Joe for, apparently, never once thinking 'gee, if we can figure it out this quick I'll bet Taj and whatsisname already have the idols by now'.

The first fake HII was Yau-man's in Fiji but was never found.

The second fake HII was created by Ozzy in Fans vs Faves. It was actually played even though Eliza knew it was fake ("it's just a stick!") but was played out of desperation.

Bob made two fake HII's, one that was used by Randy (and tossed into the fire), and one that was used by Corinne as a bluff but not presented at tribal council.

The first non-HII presented at tribal council was in China, before Ozzy's fake HII was played. It was not a fake but rather a false idol, as Jamie took a plaque that looked similiar to James HII and assumed it too was an HII. It set the precedent of Jeff tossing the non-HII's into the fire. One of the best moments in Survivor history.

Tyson cracks me up. I haven't figured out if he really just enjoys life or if he is out there on the lunatic fringe but great fun to watch.

I don't think Taj is was dumb for not playing the idol or even thinking about it. I believe careful editing made it look like a big deal but that really she was never in danger.

It seems like many times that after the season is over and during the finale live show you realize that 4 or 5 people have been solid since the first couple of weeks.

I am pretty sure she had the idol at TC but did not use it. If they vote her off, the HII goes with her, so that was incentive enough for JT and Stephen to vote off Sydney.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I'm just glad that Taj wasn't backstabbed by the people she
entrusted the idol with. For a while, it looked like she would be.

I really hope that the guy tries to use the fake idol. LOL

Ah...Jamie, what a cutie. Also, they should cast Amanda in each and every season.

Why not an "all-hottie" edition of Survivor? That way, we'd never have to worry about the eye candy all getting voted off early in the game!

That's a damn good idea. I googled "hottest female survivor contestants" and found this page:

Voote.com - Hottest Female "Survivor" Contestant

Even though I don't necessarily agree with the voting, there has definitely been some great eye candy in past seasons of the show.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

That must have ended with Cook Islands--no Amanda? Ouch! But you don't need all hotties to ensure they make it to the end--just returning players in general seems to guarantee a hot winner (All-Stars: Amber; Guatemala: Danni; Micronesia: Parvati).

Not necessarily agree? By God man, that's the most inaccurate list of anything I've ever seen! It's not even remotely in the right ballpark! Who voted? "The Worst Taste in Women" club?

The worst poll evar!!! It actually makes me mad!

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I don't know how Eliza can be in the Top 10 and Amanda not even on the list, but it didn't say when or how this poll was conducted.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Happy to see Dolly on the list, she left the game far too early in her season, but it was hilarious to see the swing vote (Dolly) get the boot at the time.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Surprised nobody has commented on last night's episode yet. That opening scene with Coach was possibly the biggest "tool" moment in the history of the show. Honestly, if that isn't an act and he is like that in real life I can't imagine how anyone could be around him for more than 10 seconds without punching his lights out. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum is Tyson who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite Survivor contestants ever. He's absolutely hilarious, especially his comment about how Sierra still being in the game "gives hope to all the stupid people in the world".

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

The best coach moments for me:

1) He calls the split vote/HII flush stratagem "my plan" even though it's actually Stephen's by way of Tyson. At no point did he have any input in it, but he appropriated it for himself anyway.

2) He says, "the best way to defeat an army is to cut off the head of the dragon". Is this some dragon army? Or is it a regular army with a Dragon general? What manner of mixed metaphor is this? Then he can't stop referring to himself as "The Dragonslayer".

Someone at Survivor Sucks pointed out that Coach is afflicted with textbook Narcissistic Personality Disorder. The cutoff is 5 of 9 criteria -- Coach clearly exhibits all nine.

Too bad Taj's fake HII left with Joe in his helicopter.
