Survivor: Tocantins - Page 9

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

How about coach to his assistant coach (and how weird was that anyway?, especially with the immediate dive into the stretching thing) "wanna know what they call me?" "Dragonslayer"

How delusional is that?

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Coach has gone from proclaiming himself "The Dragonslayer" to claiming that it was a name given to him by the others. We know this was entirely Coach's idea because it sprang forth from his own mixed metaphor ("to defeat an army, you must first cut off the head of the dragon"). His rants about integrity and honesty are jaw-droppingly lacking in self-awareness to the point where it appears he's mentally ill (believing your own lies is textbook narcissism).

But the saddest thing about Coach this season was the reveal about who his "loved one" was -- I mean, we knew it wasn't a woman (Coach isn't married and only a mail-order bride would stay more than 2 days in a relationship with him), he doesn't appear to actually have friends (only a mail-order bride would stay friendly with him for more than 2 days), so it had to be his brother, right? Wrong. It was his assistant coach. It's a co-worker. A co-worker was the only person who would accept an all-expense trip to Brazil as fair trade for having to hang out with Coach for a part of a day. Wow. That's absolutely the saddest "loved one" in the history of Survivor. And a clear illustration of how a narcissist drives away everyone with their behavior -- but in Coach's mind, it was everyone else's fault. Assistant coach? Are you kidding me? And P.S. -- Coach was fired from that job because he skipped out on the school claiming he had brain cancer as a cover for filming Survivor. Did he somehow think they wouldn't figure that out? Of course he thought that -- the ol' Dragonslayer can outsmart anyone.

And by the by, the Debbie vote was the strategically smart thing to do for JT & Stephen. The virtue in keeping Coach (and clearly the only virtue) is that he will never be able to swing a 3 person alliance with Erinn and Taj to get rid of JT or Stephen. Debbie could have conceivably created a three-woman alliance that included Taj's immunity idol. Coach is lost in his own little world where he's aligned with Stephen & JT. They will tell him that Debbie came up to them with a plan to blindside Coach, and they didn't tell him so that he didn't ruin the Debbie blindside. And he will thank them for it and then go on a long screed about betrayal and how Debbie is a cancer. Because Coach's only worth right now is that he is a) predictable and b) prone to Jedi Mind Tricks.

And why do people keep offering to get JT in the finalsat thier expense? It's weird -- he doesn't seem all that magnetic or charismatic or even puppy doggish.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I used to know a guy at my old job that was just like Coach. He was a pathological liar. He always had these crazy stories he would tell everyone, even some so large that it was obvious it wasn't true. But even stranger, he would lie about the smallest things just for attention. Even things that don't even garnish any attention what so ever. Everyone at work talked about how full of shit he was, but no one said anything because you can't argue with them, they will just lie to cover their lies. Coach is just like this. I think he honestly believes that people believe his shit, and when they call him out of them he just says "oh well people never believe me, but I don't care".

Can't wait for his one on ones next week with the camera.

I didn't have the volume up for part of that sequence so I assumed that was his brother......a co-worker?......geez, that is really SAD! I couldn't imagine being that alone in life. I almost pity him......almost.

Oh...and that stretching bit was really kind of wierd. It's not like it's helping him any in the physical challenges.

Glad Debbie's gone......at least we get to laugh at Coach for another week anyways.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

The tribal council sequence between Coach & Probst was very enjoyable.

Am I the opnly one who got concerned that maybe JT was going to get blind-sided this week? The producers have been playing with my head so much as I try to deduce who's getting voted out each week I've started to over-think things I guess. All the talk between JT & Stephen about how safe they seem to be appeared as ominous foreboding to me and I was scared to death that maybe Coach was actually going to pull off a fast one and give the boys a taste of their own medicine by convincing everyone else that they needed to be split up.

Morale of the story: Don't give Coach too much credit (although he has unnervingly made it to the final five).

=======

Oh. And I thought maybe "Assistant Coach" was a euphemism...

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I'm telling you, the reunion show will be a major one with Probst calling "the dragon slayer" out. I only hope they bring clips along to show Coach what an idiot he is and that he did ineed call himself the slayer!

Hate coach, but so glad he is still there. I'm thinking that J.T or Steven would be wise to take coach to final two. Who would give coach a million dollars? NO one that I can think of. If J.T. or Steven take any body else, it would be a toss up. Coach is the one to take.

Not necessarily.

While watching Big Brother I was certain that no one would give Mike Boogey the prize but they did.

I won't feel secure until Coach goes.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

No one thought Richard Hatch would win the first season of Survivor. And Colby took Tina to F2 because he couldn't live with himself if he took Keith and he ended up backing into the million (Colby knew he had enough enemies on the jury for this to be a possibility).

In a 7 jury scenario, Coach has:

Tyson
Debbie

He will never get:

Erinn
Sierra
Brendan

But if Taj and either JT or Stephen is sore enough over the betrayal, Coach can get two more votes and conceivably squeak by for the win. So it's not a total impossibility.

And it's not like we've never seen those who would "never" vote for somebody to win the million $ change their mind and upset the apple cart.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Maybe Coach could win, but he is definitely the safest play for anyone else to take to the vote.

Eddie George was hilarious. Good to see him on tv again.

As far as we know though, Stephen's still holding onto it.

Mike--I thought a JT blindside might happen when we saw him after the challenge commenting that Stephen winning immunity was like him winning immunity--and we saw what happened when Brendan declared JT winning the game would be just as good as himself winning. But when nobody put their heads together and realized "Hey, JT and Stephen are running this thing, let's do something about it," I knew it couldn't happen unfortunately.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Could Stephen possibly be more "girlie"?

He walks like a girl, throws like a girl and certainly jumps like a girl. Did you catch that little jump when he won immunity? It looked just like Jan Brady, minus the long blond hair of course.

And wearing the immunity necklace? Most people look somewhat normal, but my first thought seeing him was he was wearing a costume reject from "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I tell you -- I can't figure this show out.

I was 100% confident, based on the camp conversation, that
Coach would be out this week. I figured it would be a unanimous
decision.

...not that I wasn't happy to see Debbi go.

I just hope that next week is THE WEEK that Coach leaves the show.
It's better to slay that dragon early on rather than allowing his ego to be
continually stroked.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

If the Jalapao 3 turn on each other, that could very well let Erinn slip into the final 2, and she could claim she didn't orchestrate anyone's ouster and win the thing.
But I really do think JT/Stephen will be F2....whoever convinces the jury they were the mastermind will win.
And Stephen will convince them...us NYers are fast thinkers and smooth talkers! ha
Taj ain't there for the money and will tell JT/Stephen to take each other.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Even though he's my favorite one left, I don't want Coach to win--because what makes his character so much fun is how deluded he is in his arrogance, and winning would actually give him a legit reason to be arrogant. If he wins, a lot of the magic that makes Coach Coach would disappear.

That said, I really, really hope he makes F4 at least. He's on the jury and all but there shouldn't be a single episode of the season in which Coach isn't a player. He's gold.

Your not the only one. It just goes to show you that this show can spin reality any way it wants through the editing.

Obviously something changed their minds between that afternoon when they were settling on getting Coach out and tribal council that night...the show just chose not to show us that moment.

We're all just pawns in this ugly little game lol.

Then the editors are doing their job!

Actually, I've been watching since the very first season and have never missed an episode, so it was obvious that their early unanimity of voting off Coach meant that he was safe at TC. After you watch the show, you start getting the hang of the way the editing works -- it's sort of like watching lots of horror movies and then being able to anticipate what shock comes next and when.

The show will still surprise me on occaision.

No you're not. When Stephen and JT were getting the water, and they kept going on and on about how secure they were, I started to wonder if they were going to get blindsided.

Same here. But I didn't sense anything out of the ordinary in their scenes together.

BTW - I wouldn't say Coach was stretching; Asst Coach was cracking his back for him.

When Coach goes I want him devastated. I can't decide which would be better - a blindside vote off, or losing out at Final 3 or 2. If he makes it to the end and loses he'll most likely take it graciously. But if he gets voted out proper it'll be harder for him to take.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

By the way, it's amazing what a shower and a bit of makeup
can do. This week was the first time I really looked at Sierra
and thought, "Wow, she's kinda hot!"

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Showers and makeup are definitely not over-rated, Ron!

But then you'll see some of the girls at the reunion show and think how much better they look WITHOUT so much makeup!

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Amanda (China, and Fan/Faves) looked better without the make-up.

Patrick: I don't think, for you, Amanda could ever look bad!

Maybe that's true for anyone!

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Amanda sort of looked like the bride of Chucky at the reunion shows, when she had make-up on.

How about this scenario.......a tie at tribal council between Coach and Erinn where they have to have a face-off in a fire-making contest. If Erinn wins, I think it would be the equivalent of crushing "the dragonslayer's" manhood....after all, isn't he supposed to be this super-outdoorsman? What better way to to end his stay? Yes......I am evil. Muah-hah-hah-hah.

Of course.....it would be risky because it does give him the opportunity to win.....but it certainly would be mighty satisfying if it all worked out.

Well, at least the make-up has to come off eventually......and with Amanda, that's a VERY good thing. Gotta love those naturally beautiful women.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I think most woman look fantastic without makeup. There are a handful that I have seen that I think could use a bit of something, but for the most part I find the natural look most appealing.

The woman on Survivor definitely looked better natural. I think most of them wear too much makeup during the reunion show. Clown makeup is not good.

Amanda definitely looks good in that one picture!
