Survivor: Tocantins - Page 8

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I would like coach to stay but if he goes I would like a whole show with Stephen saying "It is time to cut the head off the dragon" "I AM THE DRAGON SLAYER"

Maybe JT could even talk about how they cut the heads off pigs before a pig roast. Now that would be cool.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I'm actually surprised by how Steven and JT voted tonight, as I thought they'd go the other way. Looks like Erinn tried to show a little loyalty.

So glad she's finally gone! Glad Coach won immunity too. Second half of the episode couldn't have been scripted better.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

The two most unbelievable moments from tonight's show (both from tribal council):

#1 Coach: The two things I hold most precious: Honesty, integrity and courage.

Coach can't count.

#2 Coach: However, I forgive Sierra because I really felt that verse come to me from where Stephen says when he's in the temple being stoned-to-death, and his last words are, "God, forgive them for they know not what they do."

Coach can't quote scripture correctly. Those are the words of Christ from the cross. There is nothing I can find of Stephen saying anything remotely similar at the temple.

==============================

It got pretty confusing during the "I said, they said" nonsense...but it sure seemed to me like Deb and Coach were completely lying about the conversation between themselves and Sierra.

I'm not sure I understand why Erinn voted for Stephen. She wrote "Never again" under his name. Is it maybe because he sent her to Exile Island?

And, for the record, my wife was muttering at the TV set all night long every time coached opened his mouth...especially after he won the immunity challenge. It's always good to have a villain--especially a pretentious dumbass.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Erinn voted for Stephen because at camp she told Sierra she wouldn't vote for her. What surprised me was Taj's vote for Debbie.

Coach and Debbie were TOTALLY lying about their conversation. As someone who was always on the outside of any group while growing up, I really felt bad for Sierra. At the challenge it was clear nobody liked her and back at camp with Coach and Debbie talking down to her, then their lying about it to others, then denying it when confronted and talking down to Sierra about trying to make them look bad... I really wanted Debbie gone. At least the world can see how they really are. I'd like to see Debbie justify herself at work tomorrow.

I didn't want Sierra to go, but at least she's out of her misery. Camp must have been unbearable.

In a final 2, could coach beat anyone?

Totally agree. Debbie was a screaming b*itch when Sierra did not agree to their plans to reignite the Timburra tribe alliance. Sierra only said "Why should I trust you when you wrote my name down last night?"

Then Debbie goes off on a scream fit - She had no answer for a legitimate question. And this lady is an educator of children.

I so wanted her to be gone last night. What did Sierra ever do to receive the treatment she got?

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Yes, Coach's quote is Jesus on the cross, but he was close on the meaning.
Quote:
he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.
Acts 7:60 (NIV)

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Hugh: I guess we could debate whether those scripture quotes are really "close" in meaning sometime...but not here.

And I certainly don't have time right now...because I'm still trying to Google coach's martial arts discipline.

Agree 100%! She was completely unbearable at this point....and to think that I felt sorry for her at the beginning. I guess her miserable attitude was just wearing me down bit-by-bit all these weeks. Really glad that Coach won immunity.....I hope he can repeat it because the preview for next week doesn't look too good.

If I were one of these players, I'd play smart and take Coach to the final two......guaranteed million dollars if you ask me......wouldn't have to give a long speech either.

I would love to hear coach in the final three at the last tribal council. That would be comedy gold.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Final 2 this time, right?

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I can't see then doing a final 3 since it'd be 6 on the jury for that scenario.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

It wouldn't be unprecedented (the possibility of the jury votes being equally split, that is). Didn't Fiji have a Final 3 with 9 jurors?

Mike, your speaking from a standpoint that Coach knows what the hell he's talking about and isn't full of complete and utter horseshit.

I'm surprised he didn't say something like "I was there when Stephen said it, in fact I told him to say that. Sort of like when I was at the last supper and I told Jesus to turn the water into wine. They all thought it was a great idea and held me up on their shoulders and carried me out after dinner, they rewarded me by letting me design Noah's ark."

So sad to see Sierra go, she was a victim of the group, they all decided they didn't like her and once that happens she had no shot, even if she were smarter than she might appear and a stronger player.

Yes she was miserable but she was surrounded by people who wanted her out and looked down on her on a constant basis. I can both see and sympathize with that and will not hold it agaisnt her, it's a natural and understandable reaction on her part.

High school mentality never really goes away in people, it becomes supressed over the years because it isn't socially acceptable but given the chance to let it out it will come out.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Cook Islands and Fiji both had final threes with nine jurors, and Micronesia had a final two with eight. F3 allows for a tie no matter what, but it's looking like we have the first seven-member jury and final two since season 12 (the way it should be!).

The only person I think Coach might have a chance at beating is Erinn--and that's only because JT and Stephen could go either way if it came down to that. Tyson and Debbie would clearly vote for him, and Brendan and Sierra (and very likely Taj) would clearly vote against him. I would love to see him win for the sheer hilarity. But at the same time I know his arc wouldn't be complete without some sort of comeuppance. The later the better though, I don't know how the season would hold up without him.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Is it any surprise that Tyson is the star in the jury house too? Interesting that they got to go to the same area as this past reward. And Sierra actually looks kinda cute.

I don't know if I really see that as Tyson mocking Coach though; it seems more like a tongue-in-cheek tribute.

I am not a fan of Sierra. She should have been gone from day one.
However, I did feel very sorry for her the other night and was rooting
that Debbie would be voted off. Coach and Debbie lied about what
they said and I really don't blame Sierra for going into a tirade.

I look forward to the other players seeing the actual tape and realizing
the truth about what was said.

Debbie has now become the person I want voted off next.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I actually went back and watched that episode again last night and grew pretty angry--at Coach in particular--for the absolutely evil way he portrayed Sierra at tribal council. In fact, HE is the one who probably has convinced himself that he is telling the truth.

I must've been really distracted the first time I watched the show. How despicable on his part (and Debbie's, too!). I've been tolerant of Coach and his raving megalomaniac act throughout this season...but to self-righteously call out another player for lying when it is himself who is misrepresenting the entire situation to the others is enough to make me hope he is taken out ASAP.

I've been on the receiving end of sociopathic behavior like that and it is maddening, frustrating and evil. I totally understand why Sierra went off when faced with that behavior.

It bothered me when either JT or Stephen talked about how, at this point in the game, they are deciding, among other things, who to bring with them to the final. I hope the plan is not to take Coach to the final. Besides being a risk...it will be a painful experience for me along the journey.

I'll say, he makes Johnny Fairplay lying about his grandmother dying seem tame by comparison lol.

I think Coach is either the best actor they have ever cast on the show or a complete sociopath. I'm still not sure which it is yet.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I found the votes at tribal to be a lot different then I anticipated. They were so erratic that I wondered if Erin and Taj voted the way they did to confuse Coach and Debbie. I find it hard to believe that Stephen and JT would not include Taj in their plans.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I had wondered if Taj's vote for Debbie could have been an insurance vote in case they thought Sierra might've somehow ended up with an HII. They would have figured Sierra would be voting for Debbie...so have Taj vote for Debbie and if Sierrra played an HII, Debbie would be the one out the door.

Still seems strange for Erinn to vote for Stephen.

That's one of the reasons I look forward to the first few minutes of any new episode...to see the fallout from the votes and figure out why things went down the way they did (as well as the interpersonal dynamic after the blindsides!).

I loved it after the Tyson blindside when Coach thanked JT & Stephen for "not telling me."

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

As much as I despise coach, I kind of want him to stick around. he makes for good water cooler chat. his stories are so ridiculous (a few sites have done some searching to find out which are true, close to true and complete lies), but man he can keep me in stitches.

I think Probst does some funny blogging about coach.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Looks like Debbie shifted gears too early in making an asinine plea to JT and Stephen (seriously, who plays for 3rd?).

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I hate coach as well, but he is funny to laugh at. As much as I can't wait for his comeuppance, watching him get blindsided repeatedly by being left out of the alliance, while he thinks he is running the alliance, is hilarious. Is there a word for a blindside when it's not the "blindsidee" who is getting voted out?!?
