Survivor: Tocantins - Page 5

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Nah, Tyson and Coach both suck, but for different reasons. Coach is a know-it-all that can't do much, and Tyson is a narcissist who is capable at the physical aspect of the game. That whole bit with Tyson talking about breathing on Brenden was disturbing.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I think that Tyson is being ironic when he self-aggrandizes. It's a joke -- it's a character he's playing up. Coach is the true clinical narcissist. That's why most people can't stand Coach but find Tyson full of win.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Can't stand either of them.

The only one that's worth watching is Stephen as far as how he juggles his alliances depending on game conditions.

Erin looks cute with the glasses, though.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I don't care what anyone says, Tyson is funny. Coach, however, is completely intolerable. As for the rest of the cast, they're pretty much all entirely forgettable when this season is done.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I stopped watching this show after the first 2 or 3 seasons. I don't know why but for some reason I lost interest. Biggest Loser seems to be more interesting because they are working towards a real goal. Even if they don't win, they can go home with the knowledge and will power to continue and finish at home.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Sorry, but I'd rather watch a test pattern than The Biggest Loser. And if you haven't watched Survivor since the 2nd or 3rd season why bother posting in a thread about this season?

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I must say that I enjoyed yesterday's episode quite a bit. Tyson's jab at Sierra was laugh out loud funny. Speaking of stupid people, I was surprised that no one else besides Tyson even thought to remove their shoes for the pole challenge for better grip in the grooves. Duh!!!!

I was also quite surprised that despite the uncertainty of what was happening concerning Joe, the daggers were still out in preparation for tribal council. In a previous season, there seemed to be more honest concern for their tribemate than the game at hand.....not this group - they were definitely out for blood in this episode. Too bad for them that Joe spoiled their plans. I was actually hoping that Brendan would be booted, he's way too smug and needs to go.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I'm surprised they didn't go ahead with the Tribal Council... This is not the first time someone's gone home injured and I seem to recall Jeff saying "but you're still going to Tribal Council tonight". Really, after all that planning and scheming about who was getting voted out, to have Jeff cancel TC made the last half hour of the show seem like a waste of time. ...unless next week word leaks out about the planning and the back stabbing begins.

I find it irritating that they don't know their languages very well. Forza is Italian, not Portuguese.

That was all Coach. Yet more fail for the clinical narcissist.

The million dollar prize on Survivor seems like a real goal to me.

I also noticed that. Suddenly coach announced himself as "The Organizer" and "The Dragonslayer", taking credit for Tyson's idea (didn't realize it started with Stephen, I'll have to watch it again). Maybe just poor continuity in the editing, but he came off looking like his usual idiot self.

I hope the Brendan/Sierra/Taj alliance holds. They need to dump Stephen, the guy is a parasite, using others to pull him along through the game regardless of who they are, just whatever looks safe at the moment.

Don't remember who said it, but they were worried about information leaks. Now that Joe is gone, hopefully things will leak out and Brendan/Sierra/Taj will start getting rid of the others, break up the split vote possibility and use the immunity idols if needed.

Couldn't agree more, that's one of the best lines ever on the show. Tyson's had a great comment pretty much every episode but that one was making me laugh randomly throughout the rest of the ep.

I don't know why people want Coach out so badly, he's entertaining and besides, the closer he gets to the end, the more glorious his blindside will be.

They didn't have TC since this season started with 16 and they can't afford to lose more than one person per episode--but I actually thought it was the perfect way to end such a plotting-heavy episode. Although watch Probst try to justify that as another BLINDSIDE!!! to the players.

Oh, and possible spoiler regarding whether we have F2 or F3 this season:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Joe says he is NOT on the jury, which means it's looking like for the first time in six seasons, a final two with a seven-member jury!

Of course, watch them do a F3 with six jurors just to spite me.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Check out Jeff Probst's new survivor blog. My favorite excerpt:

Quote:
Speaking of Coach's tattoos, they all look very new. The ink is very bright and colorful. I would think given all of his adventures and death defying escapades that the ink would be a bit faded if for no other reason than all of the wear and tear. QUESTION: Is it possible that he actually got most of the tats in anticipation of Survivor? I bet at least two of them are within the last six months. I'm giving 5-1 odds.
How hilarious is that? This is also from an apparent fabulist who Ebay-ed a date with himself for $5000. Wow, Coach is really setting a new high bar for Survivor douchebaggery. I cannot think of any contestant who was this awful.

Stephen comes up with the plan while talking to JT, because JT realizes if Brendan plays the HII, he'd be gone because Brendan is planning on voting for him with Sierra. Stephen's plan is to split the vote 4-3 between Brendan and Sierra. Stephen tells it to Tyson, who likes it and passes it along to Coach, who likes it so much he takes credit for it.

If they are planning on a 4-3 vote split and you add Brendan & Sierra's two, that's only 9 votes. So they all assumed Joe was gone but just didn't really care. Pretty blood-thirsty indeed.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I still have no favorite in this game. There's no "Sugar" this season
and thus nobody that I want to win (or even can predict will win).

I suppose, if I were going to take a random guess, it would be
either JT or Tyson.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Last episode blindsided me! I was dying to see council....didn't realize how fast the hour went, and when Probst came in and said no TC I was so angry! Stupid infections!!! Someone should still have gotten the axe!

Look for Coach to be there till the end. He's a supreme douchebag for sure, but I wouldn't mind sitting next to him at final 2.
He's perfectly played himself into the 'guy to take because everyone else hates him' category.

I'm rooting for JT, seems like a regular, down to earth person.....which will probably be his downfall.

I find Tyson just as annoying as Coach. He's an attention whore with a more aware sense of humor than Coach. He can be funny, but you can tell he's an asshole underneath it all.

The blonde that's not Sierra will most likely slip by under the radar and win the whole thing. What's her name again...

A friend and I were talking about the show and I said the same thing, the strange blonde, not Sierra. She informed me her name is Debbie.

I find her extremely annoying, contributing nothing to the game. Hope she gets booted off soon so we can watch the more interesting players.

Those are the ones you have to watch out for. All the sudden, they become swing voters, win a couple of key immunity challenges and--voila!--they're in the final!

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Debbie was the 2nd best on the immunity challenge, not exactly flying under the radar. Stephen's the fun one to watch in terms of balancing various alliances.

That's exactly what I hope will happen. Her name is in fact Debbie and she's one of my two randomly-picked-out-of-a-hat people in our office Survivor Pool. It's only for a few dollars, not a million, but I still want to win! (My other pick was Sydney and I was very sorry to see her go, too, but not for the same reason you all were . . .)

Not sure if they were smart or not with that play, but I think next week is sure going to be entertaining.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Totally didn't see that coming. The only way it would have been better is if Brendan played the idol just to be safe and miserable Sierra got voted out. Can't wait to see Tyson berate her next week. Coach was genuinely amusing tonight, I liked Brendan more but I'm glad things went down the way they did.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Yeah, I really walked into that one too. I guess I wanted Coach off so badly I didn't notice all the warning signs. It was so bad that I didn't even realize the significance of the first Sierra vote. I stil thought Coach was going.

I was so hoping that Coach would win the reward challenge only to prove completely inept at whitewater rafting. I would have peed.

Maybe Coach does have brain cancer or some sort of other brain pathology. It would explain his confabulation. That Amazon native imprisonment story was some sort of amalgamation of Raiders and Rescue Dawn. What does it say about Coach that the natives is his tall tale wanted to eat his ass?

My favorite lie was the Tibetan "Chong Ran" he was practicing. You can't look it up because it's only passed on verbally and you have to go to a monastery to study it.

It's the martial arts equivalent of "a girlfriend in Canada" (I don't know where the imaginary girlfriends of Canadians tend to reside - maybe Josh would know).

ETA: I was alluding to the fact that Josh is Canadian, I was not implying that his girlfriend is imaginary.

ETA: Does Josh even post in this thread?

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I loved this episode.....the look on Brendan & Sierra's faces was just classic. Unlike most, I was getting sick and tired of Brendan. Just a really boring player and his smugness was starting to wear on me......glad the 'Dragonslayer' got his wish. Say what you will about Coach......but he's entertaining to watch. Even those that hate him can't stop talking about his antics which seem to escalate with each episode. I'm actually looking forward to Jeff grilling him about his "stories" in the reunion show.

Seeing next week's clip showing Sierra at the mercy of both Coach and Travis is just icing on the cake. Can't wait to see that next week.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

Had to laugh at Brendan taking his HII with him, and not leaving it with an ally. I guess we're never get to see that budding bromance between JT and Brendan blossom and grow. Stephen was probably threatened by it, and sided with the Dragonslayer alliance.

The only thing that made me slightly unsure were the first two votes being for Coach, since usually in a big epic blindside like Coach would have been, Jeff saves the "stunner" votes as long as he can. But when the next three were Brendan, I figured, nah, Probst is just switching things up.

I can't believe I didn't catch on when they showed Brendan admitting to having the idol and him not playing it. Kudos, Survivor editors.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

The only smart thing is if JT, Stephen and Taj worked it out where Erin & Sierra will side with them and help them take out Coach, Debbie and Tyson.
I'd like Tyson to be the next one gone.
He's way tooo full of himself, and Coach is highly entertaining, in a laugh AT him, kinda way.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

As always happens, when we get deep into the season: It starts becoming one of the "best seasons evah!"

The producers/editors really did a slick job of keeping the audience guessing on how that vote was going to turn out.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I don't care how entertaining Coach, and his bullshit stories, are, this will be a disastrous season if this man wins.

Probably not since Mike Boogey on Big Brother have I despised a player this much and this deeply.

I want to see him humiliated, I want to see him cry, I want to see him piss himself with fear, I want to see someone creep up behind him and blow an air horn in his ear while he's doing his weird Patrick-Swaze-in-Road House dance thingy, I want to see him snag his precious pony tail on a tree branch and finally I want to see Jeff extinguish his fire.

Re: Survivor: Tocantins

I get the feeling that the people on Survivor don't hate Coach as much as the people who watch Survivor.
