Woody Allen has been creating films for forty years, at a rate of one per year, and many of them have been superb in every detail.
While we wait for Annie Hall to finally arrive with all of its elements intact on DVD and, hopefully, BD, we can at least add Vicky Cristina Barcelona to the list of those available to home video in quality form.
Make no mistake, while VCB doesn't hold a place with the best of them, it is pure Allen -- psychological, introspective, and with a whole lot of voice-over.
It's a very nice film, and quite beautiful on Genius / Weinstein Blu-ray.
The soft warm colors seen in the theatrical run are firmly in place, along with (strangely) a number of shots that are just out of focus. Something that Blu-ray does not hide.
A beautifully created offering for Mr. Allen's Fall 2008 project. According to IMDB, Mr. Allen's next project, Whatever Works is completed, and the following "Untitled Woody Allen Fall Project 2009" is in the works.
A beautiful film, presented to perfection by Genius and The Weinstein Company. Be prepared to see all the stunning detail that Blu-ray can offer.
Recommended.
