Svs wires and stands

I've decided after a lot of research to get an onkyo 606 receiver and a svs sbs-01 speaker system with a pb10 nsd sub. What kind of wires do I need to connect everything system related. And any suggestions on stands. How well do carpet spikes work and how easily can the speaker fall off

Good choice on the SVS.

Speaker wire between the speakers and receiver. A sub cable from the receiver's LFE output to the sub. My sub cable is 55 ft long so I used RG-6 coaxial cable since it was cheaper. Check Lowes and Home Depot for bulk speaker wire and Monoprice for sub cables.

Use them to get your speakers at ear level. Most are over priced so if I were to use them I would build them myself. Crutchfield, Parts Express and Monoprice have a wide selection.

If you have thick carpet they will make a solid connection between the speaker or stand and the floor below the carpet.

Bump it and it will fall off unless you have it secured. Glue, screws, etc are all valid mounting methods.

Re: Svs wires and stands

I bought some stands at TV Stands, Entertainment Centers, Speaker Stands & Audio Racks and I'm happy with them. You can get the same stands from 100 other places online for the same price though. I had a good enough experience to pass the info along though.

That's a good idea to use RG6 coax cable for sub cable. I assume you just put rga connectors on it instead of the normal cable connection (not sure what that one is called). But to keep things easy, you may just want to buy a regular sub cable (It usually says "Sub Cable" on the packaging

oh, and you can safely avoid wires from companies like Monster. Not that they make a bad product, just that the money is best spent elsewhere, since you can get comparable quality for less $.

RCA connectors are the standard audio connectors while the screw on type for cable are called F connectors. At my wall plates I use and F to RCA adapter. It's much easier for me since I have hundreds of extra F connectors from running a few thousand feet of video cable in my house during construction.
