Re: SPHE Press Release: Fly Away Home and Winged Migration (Blu-ray)

Wow...haven't seen Fly Away Home in a LONG time. Maybe not since owning the Laserdisc! The initial dvd release was full frame and I never got it so this is on my must buy list!

Very sweet and touching film.

+1 on Winged Migration. The first time I saw it I was blown away. When I watched the "making of" I was even more impressed!

As long as they make sure this is a top notch A/V transfer this will be release day purchase for me.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Fly Away Home and Winged Migration (Blu-ray)

I love Fly Away Home -- it was the first DVD I watched since is was one of the 4 Free DVD's that came with the original Sony 7000. Unfortunately it wasn't released in proper WS for many years, but still the movie holds a special place.

Interestingly the WS LD was released WS a month or so before the P/S DVD so for a long time it was a great way to show off the benefits of WS vs P/S in a A/B viewing. I don't know how many times I ran that demo for folks who were interested in the new DVD format and why LD wasn't quite dead yet. I don't think my LD had any rot the last I looked, but it's been a while since I've played it and it was definitely a candidate.

At least they finally released FAH W/S unlike "Matilda" which never got any respect from Sony. To add insult all 3 copies of the LD's I've owned have some rot. Matilda may have been the worst disc ever pressed with regard to LaserRot -- thanks Sony/DADC and the legendary horrors of Columbia TriStar Rotters .

Re: SPHE Press Release: Fly Away Home and Winged Migration (Blu-ray)

Thank you, Sony, for the price drop. You and Warner Bros may now be the only two studios from whom I buy Blu-ray until others follow suit, excepting only sale prices online or in the big box stores.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Fly Away Home and Winged Migration (Blu-ray)

Never saw Winged Migrations before, but a nicely priced, solid double-feature for this certainly makes upgrading Fly Away Home from the old 16x9 DVD that much more appealing. Hope the quality is good.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Fly Away Home and Winged Migration (Blu-ray)

This doesn't sound like a double feature. It says "SLP of $28.95 EACH." Still, not a bad price, just about what Warner Bros. is charging for Blu-ray catalog titles.
