Is this a Cable Box or Reciever problem?

For some time now when I'm watching a show on my Comcast Cable Box which is a motorola when I fast forward a few times it cuts out my reciever and the surround sound. Everything is still on but now sounds is coming out of the HT speakers. Does this sound like a problem with my reciever or my cable box?

I would say that the broplem is in cable box, since that should not make any difference in the signal coming
