How/What Would I Need To Make This Cable Longer?

I currently have a rigged up sound system and I need to make my subwoofer cable longer. It's not a standard sub cable you see at best buy, it cam specially fit for the subwoofer (their actually comp speakers) i know its not great but oh well. i just want to know how i could make the cable longer, it looks something about as thick as the cord in this pic, http://www.ogredog.com/images/MAME%2...d%20Outlet.jpg

i didnt know if i could just splice it, or whatever. anyone that could help i'd appreciate. thanks.

That's an extension cord, isn't it? What kind of ends does the subwoofer cable have? I just use RG6 cable for mine.

it has like a big plastic end thats red and has about 12 pins in it.

Roger neglected to mention that this subwoofer is part of a computer surruond sound system, and not from a standard audio system at all. It appears that is a proprietary connector used by the maker of that speaker set, and I doubt anyone makes an extension cable for it. (There wouldn't be much of a market for it.)

Roger, why do you need a longer cable? Low frequencies are farily non-directional. With a more sophisticated system, subwoofer placement can be important, but your current system is clearly a compromise designed to get the most out of existing parts. Chances are you aren't going to get optimal sound out of it under the best of circumstances and you aren't going to get much of an improvement by moving things around. If you need to move your other speakers and figure you need to move the sub as well, you might be better off leaving it where it is and putting together long cables for the other speakers. (If they user RCA cables, extensions for them are very easy to come by.)
