Need help with 22LG30...or suggestion for alternate 22" HDTV

I shouldn't have done a blind buy after just looking at the models in the store...so now this is what I get.

I am beyond frustrated at my new 22" LG HDTV...and am having a problem that I have seen mentioned by other people at another forum, but still haven't found a solution yet. Namely the problem has to do with the "Intelligent Eye"/power saving function on the TV itself, which can't easily be disabled. What this means is when watching a movie through my HDMI blu-ray player (such as Kubrick's 2001) whenever the picture cuts to something dark (such as a shot of space right before Bowman enters the stargate) the contrast on the television shoots WAY down, so one can barely see anything. It won't return (not even when you adjust the volume) until something bright pops up again (or you press the Menu button).

I found someone online who suggested a fix for this, by hacking into the secret menu and changing "factory setting" to "ON", which I tried but still did not erase the problem. If anyone else has this problem and any suggestions for it, I would welcome the help...I called LG tech support and predictably they didn't have any ideas.

In the event I'm forced to take the television back and exchange it...can anyone recommend a good 22" HDTV model that will work with watching Blu-Ray movies via HDMI?

Anyone? I'm kinda desperate here. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or just a good 22'' HDTV I could exchange it for?

Did you go back to the menu to see if the change was saved. Too many times I've wasted time trying to do something because I forgot to save a change before exiting -- I'm not sure what that sequence would be with LG, but it often is an OK button or a specific key click on the remote (many times it will tell you on the screen). Is there a different menu with "Factory Setting" than the one you looked at. I would assume Factory Setting would be in several of the submenus, but if the default menu setting is IE On then I'm not sure what's happening.

I guess if on doesn't work turn it off, save it, check the function then turn it back on again assuming it's the same menu item.

Standard warning anytime you talk about messing around with service menus applies here.

I'm partial to Sony and Samsung small LCD's to be honest if you are going to change sets.

Thanks David...I've tried a few things and spoken with tech support but I think it's hopeless. Looks like I'm gonna try and get a Samsung instead...
