I think E often messed up that song on purpose. He did it often, including a famous performance nearly a decade earlier:

I remember exactly where I was in 1977 when he died. He and I share the same birthday. And Elvis is my father's all-time favorite singer, which is kind of nice.

This makes me realize I am now older than Elvis was when he died. When I was a kid I thought he was fairly old!

He wasn't very old when he died, at least chronologically but he was sure old physically. It was all very sad.
