I would say Patty is the main character. But then Ellen is probably a close second.

Re: Damages season 2

Patty is the main character, it's just that they used Ellen to introduce us to her because the show is called "Damages" and that's Patty's bread-n-butter.

What Patty now sees is what Ellen is truly capable of doing when she is committed, and Patty likes.

The season started out slow for me, just because I really didn't care much for the stuff brought in by William Hurt's and Marcia Gaye Harden's characters, but when the screws were being turned on Pete, the season just got better and better, plus the writers just loved teasing the viewers with the whole Ellen shooting a gun in her apartment sequence throughout the season.

Re: Damages season 2

Glenn Close gets top billing because she's a star. But Ellen is our main viewpoint character, the one whose eyes we see the action through, the one we're meant to identify with most. That makes her the main character.

Looking forward to next year. Frobisher will certainly be back. And so will Ellen.

Regards,

Joe

Re: Damages season 2

If Rose Byrne decided she didn't want to do the next season, could "Damages" carry on without missing a beat, yup, I think so.

If Glenn Close decided she didn't want to do the next season, could "Damages" carry on without missing a beat, not so easily.

I totally agree. I would even go so far as to say I'd miss Tate Donovan more than Rose Byrne if he were to leave. But the show could go on without either of them. Glenn Close not so much.

That's what I did with the 1st season, and I did have a difficult time resisting the urge to read wikipedia or message boards on the show.

For me, I kept up with most of this season through Hulu, which posts episodes 8 days after it airs. So I just saw the season finale today.

I can't understand how Tom still remains loyal to Patty, even after all the crap he was put through, and we were led to believe that he was Ellen's side. I don't think he knew what Ellen would use the gun for. Unless I missed something.

Overall, not as good as the 1st season, and Kendrick is certainly not as good of a villain as Frobisher.
