My HT system consists of a Sharp dlp XVz12000 front projector, Stewart Firehawk 82" screen, Denon 1710 DVD, Sunfire Ultimate Receiver, Energy Veritas 2.4 fronts and center channel, Speaker Craft rears and a Revel B15 sub. Dish 811 HD receiver feed for TV programming. Component cables run from projector to the Sunfire as do all other components. The Sunfire does all the switching between sources.
Issue is that during viewing of any source-DVD, Dish, or even a PS2, I am seeing the red fluctuate in and out (or just go completely out). This of course gives a nice green effect to everything so its like watching the Incredible Hulk! I had this system installed several years ago by a local shop that specializes in Home Theater. The component cable (encased individual rbg strands) that connects the projector to the receiver runs from the ceiling back about a foot and a half and down the 9' rear wall to behind the baseboard where it runs to the corner of the side wall and then about 16' to the corner of the front wall and then over behind the component cabinet that sits under the screen.
Sometimes switching sources with the remote temporarily brings back the red so everything is normal color and sometimes not. Problem is intermittent though has gotten worse lately. Sometimes you can watch for 2 hrs with great picture and sometimes only for 30 min or so and the red fades out and the green in. Watching programming via the Dish receiver you can see the red fade in and out.
System was fine for about a year and then the red fade out began, initially only with the DVD as the source, from Dish receiver was fine. The shop that did the install came out and replaced the component cables from the projector to the receiver and everything was great again for about another year. Now it's back and I would appreciate your opinion as to what the problem may be.
Called Sharp and described the problem and they said if it were the projector it would be green all the time not intermittent. They suggested a cable issue. I unplugged/replugged all the red, green and blue connections from both projector and receiver and this seemed to help for a day or two but problem is still there.
